December 22, 1998 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Services for Don R. Leadingham, 51, of Odessa will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Carter officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Leadingham died Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born June 2, 1947, in Falmouth, Ken., to the Rev. and Mrs. M.F. Leadingham. He married Joni Forrest Jan. 14, 1984, in Odessa. Mr. Leadingham served in the Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the Andy G. Vaughn Masonic Lodge, the Shriners and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He was the owner and operator of Best Electric. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Joni Leadingham of Odessa; sons, Brian Leadingham of Lubbock, Mike Leadingham of Las Vegas, Nev., Michael Johnson and Don A. Johnson, both of Odessa; daughters, Teresa Kramer and her husband, Barry, and Angela Leadingham, all of Odessa; mother, Mrs. M.F. Leadingham of Wurtland, Ken.; brothers, Dave Leadingham of Kettering, Ohio, Jesse Leadingham and his wife, Betty, of Greenup, Ken., Lawrence Leadingham and his wife, Jean, of Clearwater, Fla., and Paul Leadingham and his wife, Betty, of Frederick, Md.; sisters, Jean Elliot and her husband, Carl, of Waynesville, Ohio, Pat Freeman and her husband, Larry, of Kodak, Tenn., Joyce Thompson and her husband, Leon, of Ramseur, N.C., and Bea Rouse and her husband, Ed, of Kernesville, N.C.; sister-in-law, Mrs. Lois Leadingham of Florence, Ken.; and grandchildren, Christopher, Amanda and Alex. He was preceded in death by his father, M.F. Leadingham; a brother, Joe; and a grandson, Stephen Michael. Funeral arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Gordon Ray Pruitt, 75, of Odessa, a retired oilfield worker, died Friday, Dec. 18, 1998, at his residence. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. Leonard Jones officiating. Public visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Tuesday at Martinez Funeral Home. Mr. Pruitt was born Dec. 25, 1922, in Sulphur Springs to Andrew and Althen Kelley. He was a longtime resident of Odessa and enjoyed playing cards. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Pruitt, and his mother and father. He is survived by his son, Billy Ray Pruitt of Odessa; and a host of nieces and nephews. _________________________________________________________________ Ann C. Scudday AUSTIN -- Ann C. Scudday, age 65, of Austin, and former County Judge of Jeff Davis County, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, in Austin following a courageous battle with lung cancer. Prior to her lengthy illness, Judge Scudday served as local government assistant liason officer with the Texas Natural Resources and Conservation Commission in Austin, addressing environmental problems and concern for city, county and for her local governmental entities, concentrating on solid waste problems. She served three consecutive terms as County Judge in Fort Davis, county seat of Jeff Davis County, from 1978 to 1990, compiling an outstanding record of service on local, area and statewide levels. She served several terms as president of the Rio Grande Council of Governments and was an active leader with the Texas Council of Governments, the Texas Association of Counties and many other state and national organizations. In the mid-1980s, she was appointed as the only county judge to a statewide blue ribbon task force to study solid waste management problems and guidelines, by then-Lt. Gov. William P. Hobby. Ann was born Dec. 7, 1933, in Lytton Springs, Texas, in Caldwell County near Lockhart and was an honor graduate of Luling High School. She was an active and successful member of the work force in Luling, San Antonio, and Austin before moving to Fort Davis in 1974. She is survived by her husband, Roy Scudday; two daughters, Susan Kopcgynski of Lakeway and Kim Krause of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a stepson and stepdaughters; eight grandchildren and step-grandchildren; one brother, J.D. Clendennen of Lytton Springs; and three sisters, Willie Mae Alexander of Elroy, Doris Griffith of Austin and Wanda Stewart of McAllen. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home in Austin with burial to follow in Lytton Springs Cemetery. Those scheduled to offer a eulogy are Rep. Pete Gallegos (D), State Representative from Alpine; County Judge Peggy Robertson of Fort Davis; Justin Ormsby of El Paso, Executive Director of the Rio Grande Council of Goverrnments; and John Hall, former Chairman of the TNRCC in Austin.
