December 27, 1998 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Linda Buchanan MIDLAND -- Linda Cheryl (Wooten) Buchanan passed from this world on Dec. 23, 1998. She was the loving mother of Emily Michelle Buchanan and Sarah Ashley Buchanan. To her husband, Bruce David Buchanan, she gave 21 wonderful years. She was born on Oct. 22, 1958. Her parents, A.C. and Mary Wooten, shared the light of this wonderful angel with all who met her. Her brothers, Al and Steve Wooten, also shared in the love of this family. She knew J.D. and Evelyn Buchanan as not only her in-laws, but her other parents. She comforted Evelyn before her passing on Aug. 6, 1998. Her many nieces and nephews knew and loved her. She graduated from Midland High School in 1977 and attended Midland College. She was room-mother to many lucky elementary children and a giving volunteer. Her smile and gently nature will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Our world is dimmer with her passing, but one more star shines bright. She now has her wings and peace. For all who wish to celebrate her life, a memorial service will be held at Ellis Funeral Home on Monday, Dec. 28, at 3 p.m. Visitation with the family will be on the 27th from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Love Ya Babe. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Wilmeth E. Glenn Harlan officiating. She died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, at Avalon Care Center. She was born June 11, 1920, in Paris, Texas to John D. and Sarah Abbie Haynes. She was a member of the Northside Baptist Church and she was preceded in death by her parents. I have fought the good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. -- II Timothy verses 4 and 7. She is survived by her son, Gene Warren Crisp of Long Beach, Calif.; brothers, Jeff Haynes of Alba and Ray Haynes of Stephenville; and sisters, Ivy Hood of Odessa and Beth Knapp of Brigatine, N.J., Daisy Dean Mullin of Odessa. I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says: "There, she is gone!" "Gone where?" Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says: "There, she is gone!" there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: "Here she comes!" And that is dying. -- Henry Van Dyke Arrangements entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Copyright © 1998 Odessa American.
