December 29, 1998 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Pearl Hart Castleberry ODESSA -- Pearl Hart Castleberry, 87, died at Parks Methodist Retirement Village on Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998. She had lived at Parks Methodist for over 10 years after having been injured in an automobile accident. The second of three daughters born to Oscar E. and Betty Wallace, she was born on January 29, 1911, in Johnsville, Erath County, Texas and attended school in Hamlin and Lamesa. She married P.B. (Bill) Hart on Sept. 19, 1936, in Pecos and they moved to Odessa in the late '30s where they continued to make their home until Bill's death in 1974. Pearl married H.H. (Hub) Castleberry of Marfa on March 3, 1977. He died in 1994. Pearl was preceded in death by her father and mother, her husbands Bill and Hub, and her sister, Ila Lee Kiphart. She is survived by her son Roy Hart and his wife Merita of Odessa; two grandsons and their wives, David and Susan Hart of Plano and Phil and Amy Hart of Sugar Land as well as five great grandchildren, Mallory and Michael Hart of Plano and Aaron, lan and Ellen Kate Hart of Sugar Land. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Myrle and Clyde Luttrell of Hamilton. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she was a long-time member of the Sixth & Jackson Church of Christ where she had served as a Bible Class teacher. Her parents had been among the original members at Sixth & Jackson. She had worked in sales at the downtown location of the Model Shop for a number of years with her sister, lla Lee. She had many friends throughout the community. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Sixth & Jackson Church of Christ Education ministry or World Bible School ministry, or to Parks Methodist Retirement Village. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with Cleon Dowlen officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Lenora Lee Daniels ODESSA -- Graveside services for Lenora Lee Daniels, 73, of Odessa and Midland were held Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Daniels died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, at her Midland home after a short illness. She was born June 5, 1925, in Clovis, N.M., to Leslie and Sadie Ethridge. She married Johnnie Lee Daniels. He died in 1976. Survivors include her daughters, Debi and Ray Goodman of Midland, Barbara Ann Hankins of Sulphur Springs, Ark., Sadie Thompson of Porterville, Calif., and Brenda Jean Wade of Odessa; sons, Danny Lee Daniels of Hobbs, N.M., and Johnnie Lee Daniels of Conroe; 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. _________________________________________________________________ Lester Clayton Jones MCCAMEY -- Lester Clayton Jones, 73, of McCamey passed away Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998, at his residence. He was born Aug. 17, 1925, in Harkeyville near San Saba. He was the son of Lester Benton and Maud Elva Harkey Jones. He was first married Dec. 3, 1949, to Ethelda Marie Lindsey, who preceded him in death in 1955. He later married Kathrine Marie Poulos Jan. 18, 1956, in New Mexico. They lived near Girvin until retiring in McCamey. Before retiring, Mr. Jones was a ranch foreman for several ranches in West Texas including the Burch Woodward Ranch. Survivors include his son, Michael Clayton and his wife, Joyce, of Plano; daughter, Sandra Kay "Missy" Meadows and her husband, David, of College Station; and five grandchildren, Matthew Clayton Jones, Mark Douglas Jones, David Scott Jones, Christopher Michael Jones and Stephanie Kay Meadows. He is also survived by his sisters, Gay Nell Ragsdale and Shirley Norwood. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathrine. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at Resthaven Cemetery in McCamey. Services are under the direction of Richard W. Box Funeral Home of McCamey. Memorials may be sent to West Texas Boys Ranch. _________________________________________________________________ Michael Hopper ODESSA -- Services for Michael Wayne "Mike" Hopper, 49, of Fort Stockton, were held Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, at Crescent Park Baptist Church in Odessa with the Revs. Barry Owens and Amon Langston officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Mr. Hopper died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. He was born April 12, 1949, in Lubbock and moved to Odessa in 1961. He retired from the Army in 1992 after serving for 20 years, and had worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Lynaugh Unit for 3 1/2 years. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his mother, Frances Hopper of Odessa; sons, Michael Charles Hopper of Stevens Point, Wis., Brian James Hopper of Fennimore, Wis., and Bruce Hopper of Fort Stockton; sisters, Beth Blount and husband, Tommy Jr., of Kingsland, Judy Crawford and husband, Joe, of Crane; great-aunt, Edna Newton of Idalou; nieces and nephews, Susan Crawford, Josh Crawford, Kimberley Reed, Deidra Herlin; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, George W. Hopper, and a sister, Georgiann Hopper. The family suggests memorials to the Leukemia Society of America, 950 Isom Road, San Antonio, Texas 78216. _________________________________________________________________ Thelma Elizabeth Coon Williams ODESSA -- Services for Thelma Elizabeth Coon Williams, 79, of Odessa will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Ziegler officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Morton. Mrs. Williams died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Nov. 13, 1919, in Cash, Texas. She married Lawrence A. Williams Oct. 28, 1940, in Muleshoe. He died in 1959. Mrs. Williams moved to Odessa in 1958 from Muleshoe. She had been the manager for the V.F.W. She was very involved with the Senior Center on North Kelley Avenue. She was Baptist. Survivors include her sons, Bobby Williams and his wife, Vicky, of Odessa, Clifford Williams and his wife, Sharon, of Kemp, Rick Williams and his wife, Connie, of Kerrville, Troy Williams and his wife, Keri, of New Caney, Larry Williams and his wife, Marsha, of Odessa, Leo Williams and his wife, Glenda, of Kingwood, Eddie Williams and his wife, Roxanna, of Azle; 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary Coon; a daughter, Anita Alexander; and a son, Roy Williams.
