December 30, 1998 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Itasca Lee Love-Hall ODESSA -- Itasca Lee Love-Hall was born the last child of seven children on April 28, 1911, to the late Robert and Lula Johnson Love in Hammond. She was a 1928 graduate of Hammond High School. She professed Christ at an early age. On Dec. 24, 1935, she was united in holy matrimony to the late Rev. L. H. Hall and immediately became an active part of her husband's ministry. Together, they served humanity untiringly for over half a century. On Jan. 16, 1941, she moved to Odessa with her husband after he accepted the call to the pastorate of the St. John Baptist Church, later reconstructed and called the Greater St. John Baptist Church. Together, they spared neither time nor themselves in promoting the construction of this new building, and today it stands as a lasting monument for generations to come. While living in Odessa, she became a licensed beautician. She was a member of the E. E. Burnett Order of Eastern Star Chapter 107. During the pastorate of her husband, she could always be found manifesting the spirit of Christ; she worked with all ministry auxiliaries of the church until her health failed. At that time, she went to live with her nephew, the late George L. Love Sr. and family, until she became a resident of the New Horizon Nursing Center, where she departed this life at 7:30 a.m. December 28, 1998. Mrs. Hall's memory will always be cherished by her sister-in-law, Mrs. Helen Brooks of Waco, and her family, Ann Marie, Robbie and Joe Brooks; one nephew, Surry Carter of Jobstown, N.J.; four nieces, Mildred Andrews of Waxahachie, Ruth Martin of Pertis, Calif., Bessie Billups of Compton, Calif., and Laverne Love of Odessa. She will also be remembered by one great-nephew, George Love Jr. of Odessa; three great-nieces, Gwendlyn Finley of Dallas, Evelyn Coleman of Waxahachie and Angela Love of Odessa; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. L.H. Hall; her father, Robert Love; her mother, Lula Johnson Love; five brothers, Robert Love, George Love, Files Love, John Love and Alfred Love; and one sister, Willie Mae McGilton. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at Greater St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Sims officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Martinez Funeral Home and from 1 to 2 p.m. at Greater St. John's Baptist Church.
