"Cherry" Davenport, 79, a retired owner of Davenport Motor Service, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jim Ray Brown officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. He was born in Dangerfield and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a longtime resident of Odessa. SURVIVORS: Wife, Edith "Jinx" Davenport of Odessa; daughter, Dede and Robert O’Daniel of Odessa and sisters, Rena Hillard and Myrtle Anderson, both of Mesquite. Dora Esquivel CRANE — Dora Esquivel, 74, a homemaker, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at her son’s residence. Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Crane with the Rev. Frank Chavez officiating. Burial will be at Crane County Cemetery. Arrangements by Richard W. Box Funeral Home. She was born in Sanderson and was a longtime resident of Crane. She was Catholic. SURVIVORS: Daughters, Elia Puga, Lupe Monreal and Rosa Neal, all of Midland, Martha Heredia of Crane, Armada Herrera of Snyder and Mary Hmelek of Berwick, Pa.; sons, Nicholas Esquivel of Crane, Julian Esquivel of Houston and Rudy Esquivel of Kansas City; sister, Kathrine Chavez of Fort Stockton; brothers, Arturo Rodriquez and Chito Rodriquez, both of Calif.; 27 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Wallace Evans ODESSA — Wallace E. Evans, 82, a retired sub-foreman for FINA, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, at Ward Hospital in Monahans. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Paul M. Smith officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. He was born in Concho County and moved to Odessa in 1984. He was a member of the Crescent Park Church of Christ. SURVIVORS: Wife, Lorena E. Evans of Odessa; sons Dale and Debbie Evans and Bradley Evans, both of Odessa; sisters Nettie Stevens of Abilene and Dorothy Shannon of Lake Whitney and four grandchildren. Ruth Jacobs LUBBOCK — Ruth Oleta Jacobs, 71, of Lubbock, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in the Abbey Chapel of the Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock with the Rev. Jimmy Nunn officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements by Resthaven Funeral Home. She was born in Oklahoma and was Methodist. Amelia Maniez ODESSA — Amelia Maniez, 89, a restaurateur, died on Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at her residence. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. She was born in Belgium and was a long time resident of Odessa. She belonged to the Temple Baptist Church. SURVIVORS: Daughters, Linda Taylor and Maxine Sweatt, both of Odessa; brother, Joseph Maghe of Franklin, Kan.; sisters, Rebecca Layton of Grove, Okla., Flora Vena of Frontenac, Kan., Lena Haynes of Salina, Kan., and Arlene Oehme of Pittsburg, Kan. Gene Penoyer ODESSA — Gene Penoyer, 61, an owner of Penoyer Construction, died Fri. Jan. 8, 1999 at Medical Center Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Lutheran Church of The Risen Lord with Revs. Preston Weatherly and James Otterness officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. He was born October 10, 1937 in Illinois and was a long time resident of Odessa. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was Lutheran. SURVIVORS: Wife, Vivian Penoyer of Odessa; daughters, Elaine Dansby, Shelley Duke, Natalie Lawson, Lisa Broadstreet and Jacki Wiley, all of Odessa; son, Tommy Penoyer of Illinois; stepchildren, Janice Adenic, Jacquline Adenic and Erron Adenic, all of Odessa; brothers, Norman Penoyer of Illinois, Alfred Penoyer of Colorado; sisters, Alice Ehret of Illinois, Helen Penoyer and Rose Palmer, both of Wyo.; mother, Evelyn Rice of Wyo.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
