                            Josephina Hernandez
       ODESSA — Josephina Samaniego Hernandez, 66, of Odessa, a
         homemaker, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at Odessa Regional
   Hospital.Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s
   Catholic Church with the Rev. Francis Frey officiating. Rosary will be
     said at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Odessa Funeral Home. Burial will be at
      Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles
                              Memorial Chapel.
                          She was born in Alpine.
        SURVIVORS: Husband, Rosale Hernandez of Odessa; sons, Arturo
    Hernandez, Robert Hernandez and Carlos Hernandez, all of Odessa, and
     Frank Hernandez of Oceanside, Calif.; daughters, Jessie Samaniego,
      Cathryn Alvarez, Victoria Sanchez, Christina Hernandez, Yolanda
     Garcia, Diane Chavez and Elena Ontiveros, all of Odessa; brothers,
      Paul Samaniego of Plainview and Felipe Samaniego Jr. of Odessa;
   sisters, Emma Puzon of Salinas, Calif., Janie Gomez and JoAnn Canales,
    both of Odessa and Julia Whitney of Grand Prairie; 30 grandchildren
                        and 19 great-grandchildren.
                                      
                                Jewel Riggs
      FORT STOCKTON — Jewel K. (Mickey) Riggs, 90, of Lubbock, a
             homemaker, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, in Lubbock.
   Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at East Hill Cemetery with
    the Rev. Dr. Larry Krueger officiating. Arrangments by Fort Stockton
                               Funeral Home.
    She was born in Atlanta, Texas, and had lived in Lubbock since 1997
            after moving from Fort Stockton. She was Methodist.
     SURVIVORS: Daughters, Barbara L. Brooks of Abilene and Cherrye A.
       Kerley of Kennewick, Wash.; sister, Wilma Clark of Crane; four
              grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and five
                         great-great-grandchildren.
                                      
                              Florencio Sotelo
   ODESSA — Florencio Moreno Sotelo, 82, of Dallas died Sunday, Jan.
                            10, 1999, in Dallas.
   Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church
   with the Rev. Luis Cepeda officiating. Graveside services will be at 1
    p.m. at City of Monahans Cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral
                                   Home.
                          He was born in Lajitas.
   SURVIVORS: Wife, Francis Sotelo of California; sons, Oscar Sotelo and
   Gabe Sotelo, both of Dallas; daughters, Alice Sotelo of California and
     Elsa Sotelo of Dallas; brother, Richard Sotelo of Odessa; sisters,
   Josefa Baeza of Fort Stockton, Sofia Sotelo of Monahans, Petra Garcia
        and Mary Helen Gomez, both of Del Rio; 11 grandchildren, 15
            great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
                                      
                              Weldon Thornton
        BRADY — Weldon Bailey Thornton, 92, of Brady, a retired
       self-employed carpenter, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, in Brady.
    Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Southside Church of Christ with
       Gene Lyles officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery.
                   Arrangements by Heritage Funeral Home.
     He was born in Gail. He was a Navy veteran. He was a member of the
                             Church of Christ.
     SURVIVORS: Wife, Ola Thornton of Brady; son, Milton B. Thornton of
   Odessa; daughter, Mary Ellen Burns of Midland; eight grandchildren, 20
            great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
                                      
                              William Holleman
     ODESSA — Willliam Robert Holleman, 85, of Odessa died Monday,
             Jan. 11, 1999, at Ben Cor Hospital in Fort Worth.
        Services are pending with Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
