Graveside servicves will be at 10 a.m. today at Mount Evergreen Cemetery with Monty Huffman officiating. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home. She was born in Colorado City and was a lifelong resident of Pecos. She was a member of the Church of Christ. SURVIVORS: Grandsons, Mark Stephens and David Stephens, both of Pecos. Russell Gardinier FORT DAVIS — Russell John Gardinier, 78, of Fort Davis, a writer, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at his residence. Services will be at 4 p.m. today at memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Barge officiating. Military graveside services will be at a later date at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisc., and moved to Fort Davis in 1981. He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps and retired as a colonel in the Air Force. He was a prisoner of war in Italy in World War II, but escaped. He was Baptist. SURVIVORS: Daughter, Ann Gardinier of Boerne; and son, John R. Gardinier of Fort Davis. Bernice Mathers ODESSA — Bernice Irene Mathers, 97, of Odessa died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. She was born in Shawnee, Okla. SURVIVORS: Husband, Thomas J. Mathers of Odessa; son, Joe R. Mathers of Odessa; daughter, Ruthanne M. Woodward of San Carlos, Mexico; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Ester Montoya PECOS — Ester Luna Montoya, 84, of Pecos, a retired notary public, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at Reeves County Hospital. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with the Rev. Ben Flores officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. today at Merced Cemetery in Marfa. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home. She was born in Marfa and had lived in Pecos since 1949. She was Catholic, SURVIVORS: Husband, Pablo Montoya of Pecos; sons, Isabel Luna of Big Spring and Roberto Luna of San Antonio; daughters, Rosie Portillo of Pecos and Mary Luna of Athens, Ga.; brother, Alfredo Armendariz of El Paso; 12 grandchildren; 19 step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 110 step-great-grandchildren. Stanley Shaw TOYAH — Stanley Dean Shaw, 46, of Toyah died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at Reeves County Hospital. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at the North Side Cemetery in Toyah. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home of Pecos. He was born in Walnut Ridge, Ark., and was a longtime resident of Toyah. He was an Army veteran.
