March 06, 1999 Permian Basin Death Notices Al Bannister ANDREWS — Al Bannister, 85, of Andrews, a retired employee of H&H Drilling Company, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at Permian General Hospital. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Andrews West Cemetery with the Rev. H.A. Hanks officiating. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home. He was born in Sentinel, Okla., and moved to Andrews in 1957 from Amarillo. SURVIVORS: Wife, Voncile Bannister of Andrews; daughter, Sammie Crites of Midland; brother, L.R. Bannister of Lake Ozark, Mo.; one grandchild and one great-grandchild. John Malaise LAKE KIOWA — John W. Malaise Sr., 80, of Lake Kiowa, a coach in Big Spring and Odessa until he retired, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at his residence. Services were held Wednesday at Temple Baptist Church in Gainesville with the Rev. Eddie J. Chennault officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements by Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. He was born in Smithville and moved to Lake Kiowa in 1983 from Odessa. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. SURVIVORS: Wife, Betty Malaise of Lake Kiowa; son, Dub Malaise of McKinney and Dan Malaise of Lubbock; daughter, Liddie Malaise of McKinney; brother, Lawrence Malaise of Richardson; sisters, Louise Hudson and Appie Webb, both of Temple, and Beth Easley of Lake Kiowa; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Jack Meares ODESSA — Jack Meares, 75, of Roscoe, a retired teacher, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church of Roscoe with the Revs. Rick Willis, Charles Addington and Glen Roenfelt officiating. Burial will be at Roscoe Cemetery. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home. He was born in Lamesa. He was Baptist. Jerry Veazey EUNICE, N.M. — Jerry Veazey, 57, of Midland, a retired chemical technician, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Calvary Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Laster officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Arrangements by Calvary Funeral Home. He was born in McGregor and moved to Midland in 1996 from Big Lake. He was an Army veteran. He was Baptist. Courtney Watson ODESSA — Courtney Bush Watson, 89, of Notrees, a retired oil company foreman, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital.
