Olivas, 36, a 1982 graduate of Odessa High School, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 1999, at his home following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home. Burial will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery. Arrangements by Chapel of Hope Funeral Home. He was born in Lamar, Colo. SURVIVORS: Daughters, Candice Olivas and Catherine Olivas of Hobbs; father, Jesus F. Olivas of Odessa; mother, Mercedes Olivas of Odessa; brothers, Jerome Olivas of Dallas and James Olivas of Odessa; La Rue Simmons ODESSA — La Rue Simmons, 57, of Crane died Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at Odessa Regional Hospital. Funeral Services were held Monday at the Richard W. Box Funeral Home Chapel in Crane with the Rev. Arthur Rodriguez officiating. Burial was at Crane County Cemetery. Arrangements by Richard W. Box Funeral Home. She was born in Stonewall County and was a longtime resident of Crane. She was Baptist. SURVIVORS: Sisters, Frances Haupt of Sweetwater, Wanda Acker of Rotan, Bessie McAnelly of Merkel, Billie Childress of Pottsboro; brothers, Charles Simmons of Merkel, Karl Simmons and Mack Simmons, both of Peacock, John Simmons of Pottsboro, Leon Simmons of Murchison. John Rice MARFA — John W. Rice, 76, of Marfa, a rancher, died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at Big Bend Regional Medical Center in Alpine. Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at San Pablo Chapel in Marfa. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home. He was born in Dumas, Ark., and had lived in Presidio County for 35 years. SURVIVORS: Son, Jim McCullen of McDonnell; brother, Ferman C. Rice of San Antonio; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Bartolo Sanchez ODESSA —Bartolo Lopez Sanchez, 74, of Toyah died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999 at Medical Center Hospital.
