September 08, 1999 Permian Basin Death Notices Walter Gleaton COMANCHE — Walter Nabers Gleaton, 86, of Comanche, a retired self-employed building contractor, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, in Comanche Community Hospital. Services were held Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at Hall and Sons Funeral Home. Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements by Hall and Sons Funeral Home. He was born in Comanche and was a lifelong resident. SURVIVORS: Wife, Imogene Gleaton of Comanche; daughters, Gail Rauhut of Houston, Judy Lacy of Comanche and Tina O’Donnell of Odessa; brother, G.T. Gleaton of Fort Worth; and five grandchildren. Woodrow Hobbs LUBBOCK — Woodrow "Woody" Hobbs, 68, of Lubbock died Thursday, Sept. 2, 1999, in Lubbock. Services were held Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at Sunset Church of Christ Chapel with Dan Rouse, Riley Turner and Johnny Evans officiating. Burial was at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene. Arrangements were by Sanders Funeral Home. He was born in Abilene. He was a veteran of the Air Force and was a member of the Church of Christ. SURVIVORS: Wife, Norma Kay Hobbs of Lubbock; sons, Clarence W. Hobbs II of Edmond, Okla., and Larry Derden of Fletcher, N.C.; daughter, Judith Ann Dudley of Gastonia, N.C.; stepdaughters, Kay Bailey of Big Spring; Karol Carlisle of Lake Belton and Kim Creel of Wolfforth; sisters, Marie Anderson of China Springs and Marjorie Clements of Odessa; eleven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Elizabeth Hubbard MONAHANS — Elizabeth Hubbard, 79, of Monahans, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, in Dallas. Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Harkey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. A.J. Ramsey officiating. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home. She was born in Aquilla. She was Baptist. There were no survivors. Arva Jones ODESSA — Arva Clair Jones, 86, of Gardendale, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Highland United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Z. Ring III officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Home. She was born in Harlan County, Neb., and moved to Gardendale from Oxford, Neb., in 1947. She was Methodist. SURVIVORS: Husband, Paul D. Jones of Gardendale; sons, Dale Jones of Odessa and Calvin Jones of Austin; daughters, Katherine Sanders of Odessa and Glenda Harris of Gardendale; brothers, Virgil Luke of Oxford, Neb., and Theron Luke of Annandale, Va.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. David Olivas HOBBS, N.M. — David E. Olivas, 35, of Hobbs, N.M., a teacher, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 1999, at his residence. Graveside services were held Tuesday at Prairie Haven Memorial Chapel. Arrangements were by Chapel of Hope Funeral Home in Hobbs, N.M. He was born in Lamar, Colo., and had lived in Odessa before moving to Hobbs. SURVIVORS: Wife, Linda Olivas of Hobbs, N.M.; sons, Eugene Olivas and Arthur Olivas, both of Odessa, Eugene Chavarris III and Arthur Martines Jr., both of Hobbs, N.M.; daughters, Candice Olivas, Catherine Olivas, Cassandra Balboa and Christabebbe Martinez, all of Hobbs, N.M.; parents, Jesus and Mercedes Olivas of Odessa; brothers, James Olivas and Jerome Olivas, both of Dallas; and one grandchild. Nita Wright ANDREWS — Nita Wright, 72, of Andrews, a secretary, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at her residence. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. H.A. Hanks officiating. Burial will be at Andrews Old Cemetery. Arrangements by Andrews Funeral Home. She was born in Olney, Okla., and moved from Big Lake to Andrews in 1954. She was Baptist. SURVIVORS: Husband, James C. Wright Sr. of Andrews; son, James C. Wright Jr. of Andrews; daughter, Debbie Gaston of Ruidoso, N.M.; mother, Willie Ferguson of Andrews; brother, Robert F.
