He was born in Turner Falls, Mass., and moved to Andrews in 1975 from Midland. He was Catholic. SURVIVORS: Son, Brian Briggs of Missouri; sister, Virginia King of The Villages, Fla. Wilma Helms ODESSA — Wilma Jean Helms, 74, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at Odessa Regional Hospital. Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Ector County Cemetery with the Rev. Curtis Welborn officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. She was born in Little Rock, Ark., and moved to Odessa from Florida 25 years ago. She was Baptist. SURVIVORS: Daughter, Sheila Reed of Gardendale; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Candida Martinez PECOS — Candida Alvarez Martinez, 87, of Pecos, a homemaker, died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at Pecos Nursing Home. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with the Rev. Manuel Munoz officiating. Burial will be at Mount Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home. She was born in Brogado and was a lifelong resident of Pecos. She was Catholic.
