                                Billie Bates
    ODESSA — Billie Jeanne Bates, 68, of Odessa, died Monday, Oct.
                        18, 1999, at her residence.
    Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Christian Church with the
      Rev. David Mindel officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial
           Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Home.
    She was born in Wichita Falls and moved to Odessa in 1947. She was a
                     member of First Christian Church.
   SURVIVORS: Husband, W.D. "Mooch" Bates of Odessa; son, Larry Bates of
          Odessa; daughter, Denise Livingston of Lakeway; and four
                               grandchildren.
                                      
                             Leland Casteel Sr.
    WINK — Leland C. Casteel Sr., 83, of Wink, a retired automobile
   mechanic, died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at Midland Memorial Hospital and
                              Medical Center.
   Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wink Church of Christ
    with Tommy Williamson and Jerry Palmer officiating. Arrangements by
                        Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
   He was born in Verdel, Neb. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He
                   was a member of the Church of Christ.
      SURVIVORS: Wife, RoyLee Casteel of Wink; sons, Allen Casteel and
    Leland Cecil Casteel Jr., both of Odessa, Frank L. Casteel of Wink,
     A.H. Bickle of Kermit, Thomas Roy Bickle, David Bickle and Rodney
   Bickle, all of Simi Valley, Calif., Richard Bickle of Lafayette, La.,
     and Stephen Bickle of Memphis, Tenn.; daughters, Gladys Laulfin of
     Apache, Okla., Lorece Holms and Mary Ogle, both of Odessa, Vivian
    Hanushik of Roswell, N.M., Linda North of Ventura, Calif., and Karen
           Casteel of Clovis, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren,
             great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
                                      
                              Stephen McKenzie
     FORT STOCKTON — Stephen C. McKenzie, 44, of Fort Stockton, a
   chorale music director, died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at Medical Center
                                 Hospital.
    Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church
   with the Revs. Larry Krueger and K.C. Ketter-Black officiating. Burial
    will be at East Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral
                                   Home.
     He was born in Fort Stockton and was a lifelong resident. She was
                                 Methodist.
    SURVIVORS: Wife, Pamela McKenzie of Fort Stockton; son, Craig Austin
   McKenzie of Las Vegas; daughters, Christy Michelle McKenzie of Houston
    and Stephanie Maureen McKenzie of Fort Stockton; sisters, Melody M.
      Berry of Fort Stockton, Cynthia L. Harter of Midland and Lisa K.
      Osborn of Alpine; brothers, R. Kirke McKenzie of Iraan, Dean P.
      McKenzie of Midland, Mark S. McKenzie of Round Rock and Lance T.
                          McKenzie of Lago Vista.
                                      
                               Norman Paxson
    ODESSA — Norman E. Paxson, 79, of Odessa, a retired employee of
    Halliburton, died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital.
    Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Chapel
     with the Rev. S.F. Timmerman officiating. Burial will be at Sunset
       Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
   He was born in Botkinburg, Ark., and moved to Odessa from Ada, Okla.,
                      in 1955. He was a Navy veteran.
   SURVIVORS: Wife, Adylene Paxson of Odessa; son, James Paxson of Plano;
      daughter, Norma Jo Clark of Odessa; brother, Sylvan F. Paxson of
   Hennessey, Okla.; sisters, Maxine Timmerman of Searcy, Ark., Sue Davis
   of Abilene and Faye Hager of Bellevue, Wash.; and four grandchildren.
                                      
                              Florence Walker
    ODESSA — Florence R. Walker, 59, of Odessa, died Tuesday, Oct.
                   19, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital.
           Services are pending with Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
