November 03, 1999 Permian Basin Death Notices S.T. Capers FORT STOCKTON — S.T. Capers, 83, of Fort Stockton, gasoline plant operator, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at Fort Stockton Nursing Center. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at East Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Harold Durham officiating. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home. He was born in Comanche County and had lived in Fort Stockton since 1964. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Baptist. SURVIVORS: Wife, Reta Capers of Fort Stockton; sons, Fredie Capers and Jerry Capers, both of Fort Stockton, and Roy Capers of San Angelo; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Nila Ragsdale ANDREWS — Nila Ragsdale, 77, of Andrews, a retired secretary, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at Permian General Hospital. Graveside services were at Andrews Old Cemetery. Arrangements were by McNett Funeral Home. She was born in Colorado City and moved to Andrews in 1961 from Monahans. She was Baptist. Emily Smith EL PASO — Emily Smith, 83, of Odessa, a retired civil service worker, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at Avalon Place Nursing Center. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Fort Bliss Cemetery with the Rev. Pete Turner officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. She was born in Marblehead, Mass., and moved to Odessa in 1987 from El Paso. She was Episcopalian. SURVIVORS: Sons, Robert "Skip" Smith of Odessa; brother, Stanton Burgess of Florida; and three grandchildren. Fred Swanson KERMIT — Fred P. Swanson, 68, of Kermit, a court reporter, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at his residence. Memorial services will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Denton-Fuchess Funeral Home of Carlsbad, N.M. He was born in Texline. He was an Air Force veteran during the Korean conflict. SURVIVORS: Wife, Donna K.
