January 2, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ David Arredondo PINE RIDGE, S.D. -- David Arredondo, 33, born in Odessa Jan. 30, 1965, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, in his home in South Dakota. Following a traditional Indian wake in Pine Ridge, S.D., David will be transported to Odessa where services will be held to honor him. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with the Rev. Luis Zepeda officiating. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are by Martinez Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Richard Arredondo, Elrick Lopez, Robert Arredondo, Johnny Nabarrette, Johnny Nabarrette Jr. and Juan Gamboa Jr. David served in the United States Marine Corps from July 5, 1983, to July 7, 1992, as a sergeant. In September of 1994, he served as a Federal Police Officer on the Ogalala Sioux Tribe Public Safety Commission. He graduated from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Commission in Artesia, N.M., in December 1995, second in his class. He received numerous awards for dedicated service and placed first in his class for Physical Fitness out of 120 police officers. He was a member of the Akicita (Protector of the People) group. David was preceded in death by his father, Serapio Arredondo Jr.; Uncles Onesimo and Gilbert Arredondo; and Aunts Teresa Martinez and Rafaela Uribez. His survivors include his spouse, Jerlene Eaglelouse Arredondo; four sons, Damian Serapio, David II, Dane Charles and Devin Marcos, all of Pine Ridge, S.D.; and step-father Roger and mother Mary Lou Ochoa, of Riverside, Calif. David has three brothers, Richard and Raul of Odessa and Robert of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; four sisters, Maria T. Castro of Wichita Falls, Jovita, Lillian and Debbie, all of Odessa; grandfather, Hijnio Uribez of Saginaw, Mich.; grandmother, Josephine Juarez of Odessa; uncles, Jose Cesario Uribez and Tomas Uribez, both of Del Rio; Aunt Rosario of Bakersfield, Calif.; Uncle Johnny Nabarrette of Odessa; his aunt, Maria Elena Gamboa of Odessa; Uncle David of Garden Grove, Calif.; Aunt Mena of Odessa; and Aunt Oralia of Chilicothe. David has 11 nephews and 11 nieces, Margarito Victor Castro, Mary Enedina Castro, Elizabeth Castro and Brittany Michelle Arredondo, Austin Arredondo and Christy Angel Lee, Orlando Torres II all of Wichita Falls; Richard Arredondo Jr., Johnny Arredondo and Raul Arredondo Jr., all of Oklahoma City; Freedom Dawn Arredondo, Elrick, Elzid and Zi Andra Lopez, Jonathan Dakota Arredondo, Tyler Michael Arredondo, and RosaLee Arredondo, Vanessa Jean Johnston, Carina Navarrete and Cynthia Marie Arredondo, all of Odessa; Jesse Arredondo Oliver of Fort Worth; and Kristin Arredondo of Ewa Beach, Hawaii. _________________________________________________________________ Copyright © 1999.
