January 07, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Jo Caviness ODESSA --Jo Caviness, 75, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, January 5, 1999, in a local hospital. Mrs. Caviness was born May 22, 1923, in Altus, Oklahoma. She married Don Malcolm Caviness in Oklahoma City in 1942, and he passed away in 1982. In 1952, they moved to Odessa, where she was the owner of J. Caviness in the Permian Mall for 10 years until her retirement in 1991. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church, Junior League of Odessa, Odessa Country Club and Past President of the Women's Golf Association. She was an accomplished artist and interior designer. She is survived by 2 sons, Gregory Don Caviness and his wife Stephanie of El Paso and Randall Malcolm Caviness and his wife Renee of Lubbock; I daughter, Karen Elizabeth Caviness of Dayton, Ohio; 2 brothers, William L. Willey and his wife Zana, of Ruidoso, New Mexico and Dr. Phillip E. Willey and his wife Shirlene of Altus, Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren, Eric Dawson Caviness and his wife Lola, Amanda Nicole Caviness and Anthony Tyler Caviness; her close friend, Louise Irwin of Odessa. Public visitation will be held Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, January 8, 1999, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Truman J. Warren and Rev. Brandon Willey officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Eric Caviness, Tyler Caviness, John Vacca, Bill Willey, Sonny Henderson and Phil Parker. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brandon Willey, David Willey, Brett Willey, Darrin Willey, Phil Irwin, Kenny Carr, Col. Tom Payne, Glen Burnam, Connell Ashley, Joel Locke and Jimmy Todd. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or First Baptist Church, Odessa, TX.
