January 10, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Gene Penoyer, 61, of Odessa passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born October 10, 1937 in Ottawa, Illinois to Alfred and Evelyn Dickens Penoyer. Gene came to Odessa 25 years ago from Illinois, he was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce. Gene was the owner/operator of Penoyer Construction in Odessa. He was an active member of the Lutheran Church of The Risen Lord and was also on the fellowship committee. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tue., Jan. 12, 1999, at the Lutheran Church of The Risen Lord with Revs. Preston Weatherly and James Otterness officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Survivors: Wife, Vivian Penoyer of Odessa; daughters, Elaine Dansby, Shelley Duke, Natalie Lawson, Lisa Broadstreet and Jacki Wiley, all of Odessa; son, Tommy Penoyer of Illinois; stepchildren, Janice Adenic, Jacquline Adenic and Erron Adenic, all of Odessa; brothers, Norman Penoyer of Illinois, Alfred Penoyer of Colorado; sisters, Alice Ehret of Illinois, Helen Penoyer and Rose Palmer, both of Wyo.; mother, Evelyn Rice of Wyo.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family will receive guests Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors from 7 to 8 p.m. _________________________________________________________________ Jennie Cope MONAHANS - Jennie Cope, 96, of Monahans, a homemaker, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Monahans with the Rev. Mel Irvin presiding. Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday. Burial will be at the Monahans Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home. She was born in Purdon on Jan. 4, 1903, and was married to W.M. Cope on Aug. 12, 1925, in Ada, Okla. Mrs. Cope was a longtime resident of Monahans and was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Monahans Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, and the Past Matrons Club. Survivors include her husband; daughter WynNelle Wright of San Angelo; son, Bill Cope of Midland; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
