January 15, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- There will be no services for William (Bill) Bowden Sr., 73, of Odessa. His wishes were to be cremated. Mr. Bowden died Jan. 14, 1999, at Odessa Regional Hospital. He was born Dec. 20, 1925, in Wichita Falls. He married Gwynne Callis Sept. 13, 1950, in Lovington, N.M. Bill was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps. He came to Odessa in 1947 from Tyler. He and his wife, Gwynne, owned W.R.B. Inc. He was later employed at Holloman Construction Inc. until he retired. Survivors include his wife, Gwynne Callis Bowden of Odessa; sons, Bill Bowden Jr. and wife, Gayle Hill-Bowden, of Odessa and Bob Bowden of Wichita, Kan.; daughter, Cindy Bowden Hirrill and husband, Max Hirrill, of Odessa; sister, Dorothy Hallman of Bethesda, Md. The family suggests memorials be sent to the American Heart Association, 3525 Andrews Highway, Suite 111, Midland 79603. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Connard Neil Ellis, 73, of Odessa, died Jan. 13, 1999, at his residence. He was born Nov. 27, 1925, in Eastland. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with Rev Bob Bratcher officiating. lnterment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Mr. Ellis moved to Odessa in 1951. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Ellis retired from El Paso Products and was a member of Crescent Park Baptist Church. He married Dorothy Nell Hazard in Eastland in 1948. He married Dorothy Dobbs Byrd in February of 1996. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Nell Ellis; son, Gary Lee Ellis; parents, M.C. and Martha Flowers Ellis; and a brother, Donald Ellis. Mr Ellis is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Odessa; sons, Michael Neil Ellis, Terry William Ellis and wife, Dawn Marie, all of Odessa; brother, Harold "Bud" Ellis and wife, Glendena, of Snyder; sisters, Joyce Taylor of Cisco and Leona Schobel and husband, Sonny, of Wimberley; grandchildren, Jennifer Easley and husband, Eric, of Odessa, Jeremy Ellis of Gonzales, Charlie Ellis, Michael Joe Ellis and Austin Ellis, all of Odessa. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jeremy Nell, Michael Joe, Charlie Daniel, Austin and friends, Bobby Ragsdale and Danny Wilson. Marienfield St., Suite 253, Midland 79701, Family Hospice or American Cancer Society. _________________________________________________________________ Louise B. Hill MIDLAND -- Louise B. Hill was born Jan. 12, 1910, in Midland to Linton and Bernice (Burkett) Brunson. She attended Midland High School. She married Carroll Hill April 2, 1927. They owned and operated the Elite Confectionery in Midland. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Rebecca Bible Class. Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Hill, Aug. 11, 1995. She is survived by her son, William M. Hill of Austin; her grandchildren, Larry Hill of Austin and Diann Hill Cotton of The Woodlands; her great-grandchildren, Coby, Cory and Catherine Cotton, all of The Woodlands; her niece, Anne Atchison; her nephew, Jay Atchison; and her cousin, Ed Weyman. Mrs. Hill died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, in Austin. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Gary Dyer and the Rev. Larry Cotton officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be E.B. Murphy, Charles Neely, Buddy Cole and Ed Weyman. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Services for Bivian Marie Richmond, 88, of Odessa are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Highland United Methodist Church with the Revs. Dr. David Ring and Robert Scofield officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Richmond died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Aug. 10, 1910, in Stuart, Okla. Mrs. Richmond has lived in Odessa since 1940. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and a Past Grand Noble, also a member of the A.B.W.A. She was a charter member and very active member of Highland United Methodist Church. She also devoted many volunteer hours to Meals On Wheels. Before retiring, she had worked at Medical Center Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.A. Richmond in 1964, her parents, four brothers and a sister. Survivors include her sons, Keith Richmond and wife, Dolores, of Odessa, and Jerry Richmond and wife, Carolyn, of Richland Hills; sister, Hazel Buzbee of Canton; five grandchildren, Cary Richmond and his family, Liz, Ben and Aaron, of Midland, Cathy Leggett and her family, Glenn, Connor and Erin, of Odessa, Beth Humphries and her family, Richard, Christopher and Caitlyn, Greg Richmond, Karen Shear and her family, Doug, and Brooklin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Stroh was born Nov. 14, 1916, to Jacob John and Katherine Stroh in Loveland, Colo. Mr. Stroh was the industrial arts teacher at Midland High School from 1950 to 1958 and at Odessa Permian from 1959 to 1986. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, the Retired Teachers Association and Phi Delta Kappa. Mr. Stroh was preceded in death by a son, Lee Ray Stroh. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Stroh of Midland; a son, Jay Douglas Stroh and his wife, Jonelle, of Las Vegas; two daughters, Cay Carol McSpedden and her husband, Davis, of Sanger and Katherine Ann Stroh and her husband, Bill Stone, of Perth, Australia; a sister, Eunice Anderson of Sun Lake, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and two nephews. Mr. Stroh died at a local hospital Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999. Visitation with the family will be Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Fane Downs officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Tom Newbold, Jim Hicks, Brad Daley, Coach Martin, Ray Bailey and Hartwell Marlin.
