January 22, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Howard H. Gildon TEXARKANA -- Howard H. Gildon, age 70, of Taylor, Ark., died Thursday, January 21, 1999. in a local hospital. Mr. Gildon was born Sept. 18, 1928, in Buffalo, Texas, and had lived in Taylor, Ark., for the past seven months, having moved from Odessa. He was a retired salesman and attended the Springhill Assembly of God in Springhill, La. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in World War II. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lewis Gildon and Lloyd Gildon. He is survived by his wife, Pat Gildon, of Taylor, Ark.; four sons; Gerry Gildon of Amarillo, James Gildon of Las Cruces, N.M., Paul Gildon of Phoenix, Ariz., and Ashton Gildon of Taylor, Ark.; four daughters, Danna Manning of Shaumburg, Ill., Darla Kinion of Phoenix, Ariz., Tena Mehagan of Stephenville and Traci Shryack of Cedar Park; a sister and brother-in-law, Frances and J.W. Stovall of Taylor, Ark.; two sisters-in-law, Estelle Gildon of Nash and Virgie Gildon of White Settlement; 21 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Texarkana Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Garth Collier officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening. The family will be at 204 Kay St. in Nash. Funeral arrangements are by Texarkana Funeral Home in Texarkana, Texas. _________________________________________________________________ Naida Sue Smith SAN ANGELO -- Naida Sue Smith, 73, of San Angelo died Jan. 20, 1999, at her residence. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Naida was born Nov. 2, 1925, in Copperas Cove. She was a graduate of Scott & White Nursing School and retired after 40 years, as a registered nurse in the operating room from Shannon Medical Center. Naida was married to Bill Jack Smith on June 28, 1947, in Brady, and he preceded her in death on April 30, 1997. Survivors include her son Chuck Smith and wife, Janice, of Odessa; her daughter, Geri Smith of Mill Valley, Calif.; two grandchildren, Jennifer Connor and husband, Bobby, of Midland and Brandon Smith of Lubbock; one sister, Margaret Dawson of San Antonio; her niece, Margaret Galloway of San Antonio; and two very special friends, Lennette and Cory. _________________________________________________________________ Copyright © 1999 Odessa American.
