February 13, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Services for Juanita Mae Stell Bell, 72, of Odessa will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Bill Counts officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Juanita died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born March 10, 1926, in Okemah, Okla. Juanita moved to Odessa in 1957 from Midland. She worked for Dr. Hayward as a dental assistant for 19 years. She was a member of First Nazarene Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Ethel Evans, and a sister, Betty Close. Survivors include her husband, Jack Bell of Odessa; daughters, Delma Anderson of Tuscola, Carolyn Courtney of Kingston, Okla., and Ruth Morgan of Garland; son, J.C. Brown of Enid, Okla.; brothers, J.D. Evans of Phoenix and Harold Evans of Safford, Ariz.; sisters, Jean Langley of Meeker, Okla., and Rada Ash of Newalla, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Weston L. Shadow DUBBERLY, La. -- Weston L. Shadow, 84, passed away Feb. 11, 1999, after a short illness. Weston leaves behind his love and wife of 63 years, Nellie Vice Shadow; and three children, Larry Shadow of Ogden, Utah, Susan Shadow-Scoggins of Houston and Steve Shadow of Denver, Colo.; and seven beloved grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Evelyn Barthelemy and Wilma Thaller of New Orleans, and Bertha Mae Mattingly of Minden, La. He was born and raised on the Dixie Nursery near Dubberly, La., graduating from Dubberly High School in 1932. During World War II, Weston was a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy and was one of the first electronic technicians involved with developing aircraft radar systems. Weston enjoyed a 42-year career with Gulf Refining Company in Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas and retired in 1981. He and Nell have resided in Minden, La., since 1988 where he continued his lifelong joy and talent as a horticulturist. Weston was loved by those who knew him and his death leaves a void in the lives of his family and friends. His memory will be preserved at his childhood home, which was recently placed on the National Register of Historic Places for its unique 18th-century architecture and historic significance. Viewing is from 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, and from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, La. Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at Brushwood Cemetery in Dubberly, La.
