Dishroon, 71, of Odessa will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 1999, in Miles Cemetery, Miles, Texas, with Brother Eddie Tingle, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Miles officiating. Services under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews. Our beloved mother and devoted wife, Wanda M. Lucas Dishroon, passed from her earthly home to her now heavenly home at 3:40 p.m. March 11, 1999. Wanda was born in Wetumka, Okla., July 5, 1927, to Clara Mae Roberts and Dwight W. Lucas now deceased. She was raised in Ripley, Tenn., with her brother, Farris R. Lucas, deceased. She finished high school in Borger, Texas. Wanda met Wesley G. Dishroon while employed at Shell Oil Company in Denver City, Texas. They were married Jan. 29, 1949, in Las Cruces, N.M., and just recently celebrated their wedding anniversary. Wanda graduated from the College of the Southwest in Hobbs, N.M., with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in Jan. 30, I964. Her major was Elementary Education with a minor in Language Arts and Social Studies. She began her teaching career as a fourth grade teacher at Goliad Elementary in Odessa, Texas, continued at Reagan Elementary and completed her teaching career as a second-grade teacher at Austin Elementary where she retired in August of 1988. Wanda M. Dishroon is survived by her husband, Wesley G. Dishroon; son, Dwayne Dishroon; daughter, Elayne Dishroon; two grandchildren, Darrell Dishroon, Aleshia and her husband, Nick Wingate; and one special great-grandbaby, Mackinzlee "Little Macki" Wingate. Wanda's life and time spent with her loved ones was very special. There was not one person who crossed her path that his life was not touched by her cheerful and loving smile, words, deeds, kindness and prayers. To all the children, she taught and to all whom crossed her path each and everyone was prayed for and lifted to the throne of grace daily. Wanda committed her life to Jesus Christ at an early age. She started at the age of four playing the piano for church services. By the age of ten, she was playing for revivals. Her step grandmother Lucas instilled in her the desire to be a teacher. God called her to serve him in the capacity as a church pianist, schoolteacher, a mother and wife. She took the responsibility of her calling very seriously. As a mother, she trained her children and grandchildren in the knowledge and wisdom of the Word of God from their birth. Dwayne and Elayne are very proud to be children of Wanda Dishroon. Without her undaunted prayers and unfailing faith in the power of prayer, we would not be where we are today. She devoted her life to teaching, being the best Mother she knew how to be and honoring her husband as she had vowed to God to do. But most of all, Wanda loved her life as a child of God, trusting, always praying and constantly abiding under the shadow of the Almighty wings of God the Father. Wanda M. Dishroon our Mother, wife, dearest friend and the greatest prayer warrior will be missed so very much. We all love you and thank God for loaning you to us to share in our lives thus making us richer and closer to Jesus Christ by having lived your life as an example of the very love of God the Father. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Zipora (Zee) Katzman passed away March 11, 1999 in Odessa.
