March 17, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Bill Busby is now in God's loving care. Graveside services for Billy Wayne Busby will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Clyde Chapman officiating. Mr. Busby died March 16, 1999 at his residence. He was born July 20, 1934 in Wichita, Texas. He graduated in 1953 from Monahans High School. Bill worked in the oilfield and was a retired business owner. Survivors include a brother, Victor Van "Pete" Busby of Durango, Colo. and his family. This loving father gave life to his six children, Joanna Sue Baker of Las Vegas, Nev., Rebecca Jane Decker and Richard Randolph Busby, both of Odessa, Karen Allison Wadford and Mark Lawrence Busby, both of Mesquite, and Kristi Jean Newbrough of Fort Worth; 11 grandchildren, Anja Lee, Misty Woodcock, Daniel Decker, Brent Newbrough, Chandra Busby, Shayla Busby, Shelby Busby, Steven Busby, Jennifer Busby, Kayla Busby and Ricki Leigh Busby; and three great-grandch ildren. This unforgettable man touched many lives with his unforgiving love, kindness and generosity. He was adored by all and will be greatly missed. Frank Harris officiating. Mrs. Gonzales died Tuesday, March 16, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Feb. 19, 1945, in Meoguie, Mexico. She married Richard Gonzales April 24, 1981, in Odessa. Mrs. Gonzales moved to Odessa in 1968 from Mexico. She was a member of World Wide Church of God. She was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed being with her family. Survivors include her husband, Richard Gonzales of Odessa; sons, Antonio Saucedo III and his wife, Claudia, of Dallas, Richard J. Gonzales III of College Station and Richlee J. Gonzales of Odessa; daughters, Naomi Asselin and her husband, Randy, of Tucson, Ariz., Elizabeth Saucedo of Odessa and Richann J. Gonzales of Latonia, Ken.; brother, Faustino P. Larrea and Faustino C. Larrea, both of Odessa, and Santiago Larrea of Austin; sisters, Elvira Larrea and Consuelo Lavender, both of Odessa; and three grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Services and celebration of the life of Evelyn Henry, 70, of Odessa will be held at 2 p.m. today at Sunset Heights Baptist Church in Odessa with the Rev. Jess Little officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Evelyn was the wife of Macon Henry who preceded her in death in 1986. She was also preceded in death by her beloved friend, Bob Dockrey, in 1997. She left this life suddenly but peacefully at her home in Odessa on Sunday, March 14, 1999. "Home" to Evelyn was always Forest, Miss., where she was born and raised along with four sisters. They were a very close family and she was devoted to them. She was the daughter of Lawrence and Onie Sessions She attended Good Hope School. She married Macon Henry, started her own family and moved to Odessa in 1954. Longtime residents, he worked for Glenn Rex Inc., and she worked over the years at several restaurants prior to buying her own restaurant, which she named "Evelyn's Café." She had many longtime customers who brought in various interesting memorabilia for display at the cafe, from mounted longhorns to a huge hornet's nest and license plates from all over the country dating back to the 1920s. She was delighted when a former Odessa resident wrote her a letter and sent her a copy of a country and western song he had written and recorded in Nashville, Tenn. He titled it "Evelyn's Café," in honor of his memories of visiting her cafe with his father as a youth. She had a son and three daughters who all graduated from Odessa High School. After the death of her husband, Macon, in 1986, she devoted herself to the café. Upon her retirement in 1995, she enjoyed working in her yard, feeding the wild birds and keeping in touch with family and friends. She was a faithful member of Sunset Heights Baptist Church, where she served on several committees and especially enjoyed tending to the Church's flowerbeds and trees. She read extensively and was very interested in political issues. She had a soft Southern accent that immediately endeared her to those who met her. She was proud and independent with strong beliefs and opinions and a deep loyalty to her family and friends. She had a truly wonderful sense of humor and loved to share a good laugh. She was an avid collector of antiques, coins and gemstones. Evelyn was devoted to Christ and to her church, Sunset Heights Baptist Church. For that reason, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to her church, or the charity of one's choosing. In lieu of tears and sadness at her passing, she would want you to remember your happy times together. The family would like to thank the Rev. Jess Little and our many neighbors, friends and loved ones for their support and love during this time. She is survived by four children, Leon and Sylvia Henry, Gwen and Kirby Boyd, Mavis "Jody" Light and Janice and Vaughn Holbrook; 10 grandchildren, Danny Ray Light Jr., LaVern and Ernie Herrera, Kristi Light, David and Charles Boyd, Angel, Tiffanie and Johnny Leon Henry, Bryan and Jonathan Holbrook; four great-grandchildren; and sisters, Dorothy Sanders and Odessa Wooten of Lake, Miss. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Lupe T. Martinez, 61, of Odessa died Monday, March 15, 1999, in Austin, Texas. Mrs. Martinez was born July 27, 1937, in Lockhart. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 1999, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, March 19, 1999, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, under the Direction of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Mrs. Martinez was a homemaker, and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, she was also a Cursillista. She loved to travel. She married Gilbert Martinez on July 26, 1955, in Big Spring. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pasqual and Ygnacio Torrez; son, Alberto Martinez; and brother, Raul Torrez. Survivors include husband, Gilbert Martinez of Odessa; two daughters, Sally Gonzales of Dallas and Grace Bersosa of Abilene; three sons, Willie Martinez of Austin, Manuel Martinez and Tony Martinez, both of Odessa; two brothers, Jose Torrez of Big Spring and Pablo Torrez of Midland; three sisters, Raquel Martinez, Dora Rodgers and Ofelia Alvarez, all of Midland; and 13 grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Willie Martinez, Manuel Martinez, Tony Martinez, Michael Martinez, Leo Bersosa and Donald Gonzales. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Graveside services for Weldon Durwood Seely, 68, of Odessa wil be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Mike Hill officiating. Mr. Seely died Tuesday, March 16, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born July 1, 1930, in O'Donnell. He married Zada Pearce Feb. 10, 1951, in Clovis, N.M. Mr. Seely moved to Odessa in 1964 from Goldsmith. He was a field maintenance coordinator for Phillips Petroleum for 41 years. He was a family man. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Seely. Survivors include his wife, Zada Seely of Odessa; sons, Dwayne Seely and his wife, Sherry, of Odessa, Ron Seely and his wife, Frances, of Odessa; daughter, Marsha Hill and her husband, Mike, of Abilene; parents, Price and Fern Seely of O'Donnell; brother, Dan Seely and his wife, Judy, of Lamesa; five grandchildren, Stacy and Shane Hill of Abilene, Wayne Seely, John Nevill and Regan Cross, all of Odessa; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dr. Johnny Lee Woodfaulk Sr. was born in Union Springs, Ala., Feb. 27, 1917, to Jessie and Novella Woodfaulk who preceded him in death. The Rev. Woodfaulk Sr. and Miss Henrietta Edwards married Dec. 25, 1952. To this union, they were blessed with a son, Johnny Lee Woodfaulk Jr., of Abilene and a daughter, Deborah (Debbie) Parks-Morris of Odessa. He attended public school in Jacksonville, Fla., Edwards Waters College in Jacksonville, Fla. He received his B.A. from Tuskegee Institute at Tuskegee, Ala., in 1938, B.D. from Morris Brown College in 1941, Ph.D. in Pathology, Neurology and Anatomy from Howard University, and was a retired chaplain in the United States Air Force. The Rev. Dr. J.L. Woodfaulk Sr. leaves not to mourn but to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, "Honey," of 46 years; son, Johnny Lee Woodfaulk Jr.; daughter, Deborah (Debbie) Parks-Morris; son-in-law, Eugene Morris; two grandchildren, Aaron Lee Washington of Odessa, Misty Mashall Maxie of Dallas; great-grandson, Ke'Jordan Lee Washington of Arlington; three brothers, Frank Woodfaulk of Gary, Ind., George Woodfaulk of Union Springs, Ala., and Jimmie Woodfaulk of Aberdeen, Md.; two sisters, Estelle Adams of Tacoma, Wash., and Novella Scott of Union Springs, Ala.; great-aunt, Gussie Whittaker of Bay Minette, Ala.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, devoted friends and many, many others of the city, state and nation.
