April 23, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ John E. Clark Jr. SAN ANTONIO -- John E. Clark Jr., born Dec. 15, 1932, passed away April 21, 1999, in San Antonio at the age of 66. Mr. Clark retired at the rank of lieutenant colonel from the U.S. Air Force Reserve and was a savings and loan executive. Born in Crane County, Mr. Clark was renowned for his humorous anecdotes ranging from experiences growing up on a West Texas ranch to serving as a pilot in the USAF. He led his business units through the 1980s savings and loan crisis with enthusiasm, dignity and humor. Mr. Clark was a proud and loving son, husband, father and grandfather and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John E. (III) and Patricia K. Clark of San Antonio; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy L. and William B. Adams of Littleton, Colo.; four grandchildren, Marisa Adams, Ian Clark, Elliott Clark and Sean Adams; sister, Jane Lea of Midland; brother and sister-in-law, William F. and Norma Jo Clark of Odessa; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Darrell and Dorothy Curry; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 31 years, Wanda L. Clark (nee Curry). Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 1999, at Northwood Presbyterian Church in San Antonio followed by interment at 1 p.m. Monday, April 26, 1999, at Younger Cemetery in Corsicana. Funeral arrangements are by Porter Loring Mortuary North. _________________________________________________________________ Lola Evelyn Johnson ANDREWS -- Funeral services for Lola Evelyn Johnson, 80, of Andrews will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 1999, at the Andrews Church of Christ with Bob DuPont, pastor, officiating and Dr. Mel Miller of Austin assisting. Burial will be in the Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews. She died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Permian General Hospital in Andrews. She was born June 7, 1918, in Hamlin. She married Forrest D. Johnson on June 6, 1952, in Rotan. They moved to Andrews in 1978 from Jal, N.M. She was a homemaker and co-owner of Quality Well Repair with her husband and son in Andrews from 1984 to present. She was a member of the Andrews Church of Christ. Her son, Jimmie Wilkinson, died on March 30, 1998. She is survived by her husband, Forrest D. Johnson of Andrews; two daughters, Doris Johnston of Andrews and Brenda and Stan Morris of Andrews; son, Fred Johnson of Andrews; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. _________________________________________________________________ Copyright © 1999 Odessa American.
