April 29, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ KERMIT -- Private graveside services for L.T. Cain, 86, of Odessa will be held in Kermit under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel. Mr. Cain died Wednesday, April 28, 1999, at Odessa Regional Hospital. He was born June 9, 1912, in Milburn. He married Ada Elizabeth Madalene in 1948. He was preceded in death by his wife. Mr. Cain was graduated from McCamey High School and attended Draughon's Business College in Abilene. L. T. Cain, station attendant for Shell Pipe Line's Eldorado retiring after 40 years of service. Leonard began his career with Shell Pipe Line Corporation as a maintenance laborer at McCamey in August, 1935. Most of his service has been in gauging assignments in the Permian Basin. His service was interrupted from May, 1941, when he began military leave of absence in the U.S. Army. He was a staff sergeant and served in the 10034rd Engineer Service Battalion until his honorable discharge in October, 1945. Survivors include son, Joe Cain and his wife, Nancy, of Lubbock; two granddaughters, Shannon Ivy and Shelly Cain; and two great-grandchildren. _________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Services for Jocelynn Pletrice Clinton, 31, of Odessa are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church with Bishop A.C. Taylor and the Rev. Bill Palmer officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Martinez Funeral Home. Miss Clinton died Monday, April 26, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born July 14, 1967, in Abilene to Phyllis Yolanda Clinton and Eddie Gene Clinton. Miss Clinton was a self-employed cosmetologist and was a member The Victorious Church of Odessa. Survivors include her mother, Phyllis Clinton of Odessa; fathers, Eddie Gene Clinton and Richard Lee Hendrix, both of Odessa; brothers, Cranston Lamont Parks and Chakiris Lefonte Clinton, both of Odessa; and brother, Calonski Lejon Clinton of Odessa; sister, Jacquelynn Pleshett Clinton-Jeffrey and Sharona Richett Lewis, both of Odessa, and Rejina Smith of Atlanta, Ga.; grandparents, Robert Lee and Clarice Hendrix, both of Odessa. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Services for Nestor Garcia Jr., 11 month-old son of Julie and Nestor Garcia of Dallas, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel. Nestor died Sunday, April 25, 1999, in Dallas. He was born May 29, 1998, in Dallas. Survivors include his parents; a brother, Luis Miguel Ramirez of Odessa; a sister, Amelia Garcia of Dallas; his grandparents, Eugene and Rebecca Cantu of Odessa; and his great-grandparents, Miguel Sanchez Sr. and Edwardo Ramirez Sr., both of Del Rio. _________________________________________________________________ Lillian "Pat" Gayler ODESSA -- Sunday, April 25, 1999, Jesus softly called His child, Lillian "Pat" Gayler home. He took her hand as she entered Heaven's gate, strong and well once again. Pat was a sweet and kind lady, loved by nearly everyone she knew. She was born in Silver Valley, Texas, Dec. 27, 1922. When she was 14 she was saved and became a member of the Pentecostal Church in Odessa. She loved the Lord, and enjoyed attending church and reading her Bible until it was no longer possible to do either. She became a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Odessa in the early seventies. She joined the U.S. Army in 1943, stationed at Merced Field, CA. She was an airplane engine mechanic. She married Dow B. Gayler Sr. Sept. 15, 1950, in Albany, Texas. He died March 23, 1975, in Odessa. In 1970, she started a home dressmaking business. She worked until 1995 when her health began to fail. Mother was a loving mother and grandmother, always helping all of us when needed. She was a loving and attentive daughter caring for her own mother at home until her death May 9, 1992. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Georgia Tennison and I.P. Townsley, two brothers, Morris Alton Townsley and Archie Leon Townsley and her sister, Billie Marie Townsley. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Ann and Roy Harmon; sons, Bert and Debra Gayler and Ray Verner, all of Odessa; brothers and sister-in-law, Eddie Ray and Neva Townsley of Spring, Texas; sister-in-law, Colleen Townsley of Katy; grandchildren, Stephen and Debra Lawhone of San Angelo, Christy Harmon of Lubbock, Jake and Stephanie Bryant of Farmington, N.M., Shawnda and John Peacock of Virginia, Brandie Carney of Iowa Park, Waylon and Pat Verner of Houston, Michael Verner and Larry and Mari Verner of Arlington, Vonda and Jack Kirk of Shasta Lake, CA, Lisa Kuhn of Chanute, KS, David Lawhone, Carl and Amanda Wynne, Robert LaChance and Cory Morris, all of Odessa; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She also leaves a special friend, Arthur "Pete" Aldridge of Fruitvale. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at First United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Terry Pugh officiating. Interment will follow Sunset Memorial Gardens. Martinez Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. "I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do." _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Jane Presley, age 72, died at Medical Center Hospital on April 28, 1999, of complications associated with lung cancer. She was married to and will be missed greatly by her husband of 53 years, Walter G. Presley. Also missing her greatly is her daughter Lynn Dammann and her children Sara and Andrew, her son Ken and his wife Leanne, her sister Evelyn Keithley and husband, Jerry, and her brother, Guy Wiley and his wife, Hazel. Her family wants those who read this to know what a wonderful woman she was, full of love and life. Jane was born Sept. 23, 1926, in Leander, Texas, to Edgar Maurice and Essa Viola Wiley. She married Walter G. (Dub) Presley March 29, 1946, in Lubbock. She was a homemaker, a volunteer with the Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary and Interfaith. She also was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and Asbury Methodist Church. A visitation will be held at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors on Thursday, April 29, 1999, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM, Friday, April 30, 1999, at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathryn Strempke officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
