May 17, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Madlyn W. Stewart of Odessa died Friday, May 14, 1999, in Odessa. She lived the last four years of her life with her daughters. She was born Dec. 28, 1915, in Gonzales County, Texas. She married Harley Stewart on June 1, 1938, in Alpine. During World War II, she was a bookkeeper in the shipyards in Seattle. They moved to Odessa from Provo, Utah, in 1957. She was a charter member of Asbury United Methodist Church and Girl Scout Leader for many years. She was a loving and caring mother who participated in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Ross Elementary PTA for two generations. A great dancer, she taught ballet, tap and ballroom dancing. She was a generous a volunteer; being involved with every Heart Association and American Cancer Society Drive that she could. She loved camping and her flowers and plants. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Stewart, on Sept. 7, 1983. Survivors include her daughters, Jan Ryder and husband, Elvin, of Odessa, and Peggy Blue of Jackson, Miss.; and son, Shane Stewart of Dallas. She is also survived by grandchildren, Beth and Diana Pollard of College Station, Texas, and Laurel and Megan Blue of Jackson, Miss.; and brother, Willie Wilkinson of Falfurrias. The family will receive friends at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 17, 1999, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Willie Wilkinson officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
