June 01, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA --Erma Wildren Dane died Saturday, May 29, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. She was born Nov. 2, 1904, in Jones Prairie. Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 1999, at Terrace Hills Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Willis officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Frank W. Wilson funeral Directors. She and her family lived in Rosebud, Waco, and Temple. She moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1929. She married Almon A. Sweet in Santa Ana, California Feb. 11, 1936. He passed away Oct. 21, 1965. On June 21, 1976, she married Paul Dane in Los Angeles and moved to Odessa, Texas. Mr. Dane passed away April 14, 1986. Mrs. Dane was a member of Terrace Hills Baptist Church. She was a descendant of the Z.T. James pioneer family of Central Texas. She is survived by one sister, Glenda James Wood of Dallas; two nieces, Janet James Lawrence of Los Angeles and Wanda Faye Shipp of Austin; two nephews, Marvin R. Tarrant of Dallas, Texas and James H. Wood of Charlotte, N.C. and two stepsons. Pallbearers will be Ellis Fulton, Jim Warner, Harvey Keefer, Hugh Nixon and James Wood. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA --Services for Joe F. Williams, 73, of Odessa will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 1999, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with the Rev. Griffin Jones officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Joe passed away Sunday, May 30, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born in Reck, Okla. Sept. 17, 1925. Joe moved to Odessa in 1964 and was employed by Delta Drilling Co. until he retired in 1987. He was a Mason and an active member of the YMCA. He enjoyed many hours working in his yard and flower gardens and visiting with his family and friends. One of his favorite pastimes was walking their dog, Ginger. Survivors include his wife, Lee Burney Williams of Odessa, three sons and five daughters: Bobby Williams and Mike Williams of Wilson, Okla., Don Burney of Odessa, Joyce Bittinger, Brenda Stillwell, Debbie Temple, Tonia Hall and Cindy Connally, all of Odessa; brother, Earl Williams of Marietta, Okla.; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and many friends. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Patsy Hiegle Spencer, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, beloved secretary and confidant passed to a new life May 28, 1999, in Midland. She was born in 1927 in Holliday, Texas, and was reared in Wichita Falls, Texas. Patsy and her husband, Chuck, had made Midland their home since 1965. Chuck preceded her in death in 1996. Patsy's life was a rich mosaic of interesting people and experiences. Her abiding concerns were her activities as a parent, spouse and legal secretary. While her most recent employment was, for many years with her long time friend, J. K. Rusty Wall, Patsy's legal career stretched over almost half a century. Survivors include her loving daughter, Jan Sims and her son-in-law, Jerry Sims, of Midland; her grandson, Brian Trout of Midland; her sisters, whom she raised, Sandra Smith and Betty Guthrie, both of Odessa; her brother-in-law, Al Smith; her niece, Lori Searcy; nephews, Steve and David Guthrie, and Kyle Smith; and friends in the legal profession, including secretaries, lawyers and judges. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 1999, at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA - Services for Dennis T. Willis, 85, of Odessa will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. J.T. Pugh officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Willis died Friday, May 28, 1999, at his residence. He was born Jan. 27, 1914, in Clinton, Okla. He married Mildred Fout Jan. 9, 1953, in Clovis, N.M. Mr. Willis moved to Odessa in 1981 from El Paso. He was a conductor for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 34 years. He raised homing pigeons and was a member of the Pigeon Club. He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Willis of Odessa; son, Kenneth Sparks of Bullhead City, Ariz.; daughters, Joyce Sirmon and Karen Baumgar-dener, both of Odessa; brother, Curtis Willis of Lake-side, Calif.; sister, Florence Caveness of Los Angeles; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests that memorial be made to Home Hospice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Clovis Fink ODESSA --Clovis Joyce Fink, 87, of Oklahoma City, passed away May 29, 1999. She was born Oct. 30, 1911, in Tipton, Oklahoma to Love and John Thomas McAmis. Mrs. Fink worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for many years. She married David N. Fink Sept. 14, 1946, and moved to Odessa, Texas, where they lived until Mr. Fink's death in 1986. Mrs. Fink returned to Oklahoma City where she was a member of St. Augustine's Episcopal Church. Mrs. Fink was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jarvis Twain McAmis, and her beloved sisters, Fetna Green and Jean Ritzhaupt. She is survived by her loving sister, Yiki Yenkel of Oklahoma City; her nieces, Cai Morgan Glackin of Dallas, Texas and Linda Ward of San Diego, Calif., and her nephews, Bill Ritzhaupt of Dallas, and Bob Ritzhaupt of Pottsboro. Graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, Texas, at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Arrangements entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Kenneth Wright ODESSA --Kenneth Carol Wright, 82, of Odessa, passed away Saturday, May 29, 1999, in a local nursing home. Mr. Wright was born Oct. 27, 1916, in Rhea's Mill, Ark. He married Lucy Mae Drane Jan. 28, 1942, in Farmington, Ark. He had been a long-time resident of Jal, N.M., and had worked for El Paso Natural Gas there for more than 30 years. They moved to Odessa in 1988 to be near their family. He was preceded in death by 10 brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Lucy Wright of Odessa; four sons, Kenneth J. Wright of Odessa, Kendale Wright of Midland, David George Wright of Newport News, Virginia, and Calvin Wright of Odessa; three sisters, Reba Edwards of Farmington, Ark., Hazel Bond of Natural Dam, Ark. and Daisy Cunningham of Prairie Grove, Ark.; a special sister-in-law, Jackie Wright of Fayetteville, Ark., and two grandchildren. Graveside services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 1999, in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Emmett Barnard officiating.
