June 22, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Dale Ellis AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Dale Ellis, longtime resident of Odessa and businessman, died Sunday, June 20, 1999, in Augusta, Ga. He was retired from State Farm Insurance Companies, having served in Odessa, Dallas, Lafayette, Ind., and Costa Mesa, Calif. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill., and a master of arts at the University of Arizona. He was also a Clu Designee. Mr. Ellis is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean Houghton Woodruff of Augusta, Ga.; two children, Col. David D. Ellis of Fort Bragg, N.C., and Debra Jean Ellis of Augusta, Ga.; three grandchildren, Emily Ellis and Laura Ellis of Fort Bragg, N.C., and Daniel Ellis of Oklahoma; two brothers, William Wilmer Ellis of Holiday, Fla., and Tom Ellis of Farmer City, Ill.; two sisters, Donna Joyce Storto of Phoenix, Ariz., and Ladine Fulk of Armington, Ill. Dale was a member of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce where he served on the sports committee. He was a chairman of the committee that established the Odessa Family YMCA and the Lions Club Odessa. He was retired from the United States Navy, having served five years during World War II. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Odessa Family YMCA. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Westover Memorial Park Mausoleum in Augusta, Ga. Arrangements by Platt's Funeral Home of Augusta, Ga. _________________________________________________________________ Glynna G. Smith ODESSA -- Glynna G. Smith, 72, of Odessa, died Monday, June 21, 1999, in Odessa. She was born Nov. 1, 1926, in Eastland. She was a graduate of Odessa High School and member of the Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord. She moved to Denver, Colo., in 1973 where she was a secretary for the Square D Company. She married Vernol Smith Nov. 24, 1976, in Denver, Colo., and they moved to Odessa in 1986. She had been an avid golfer and loved to play bridge. Her husband, Vernol, preceded her in death Aug. 30, 1997. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Sue Frazier of Austin, Kathy Lou Riley and husband, Bobby, of Odessa, and Karla Kay Mclntosh and husband, T., of Odessa; grandchildren, Chad and Josh Brannon, James and Misty Frazier, Ben and Bailey Mclntosh, Misty Scott and Callee Stokes; and brother, Baxter Hunt of Denton. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Revs. James Otteress and Preston Weatherly officiating. Arrangements by Frank W.
