June 25, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Norman H. Grine BRYAN -- Norman H. Grine, 73, of College Station, died Wednesday, June 23, 1999, at his residence. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Matthew Drumheller officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Grine of College Station; daughter, Susan and husband Bill Rutherford of Odessa and Nancy and her husband Allen Dorsey of San Antonio; sister, Dorthea Grine of Houston; grandchildren, Matthew Ellis Rutherford, Katherine Lamer Rutherford, Julia Lynne Dorsey, Justin Allen Dorsey and Lauren Carol Dorsey. He received a bachelor of arts in marketing and economics at Northeastern University in Tahlequah, Okla. He attended University of Tulsa where he was a charter member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was a sergeant in the Army in World War II and served in the infantry in Saipan and Okinawa. He served in the Army of Occupation in Korea. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bryan, and served as Elder and Deacon in the Rotary Club of College Station. He was club photographer and Paul Harris Fellow Volunteer for Brazos Beautiful and Brazos Church Pantry. He was a certified purchasing agent. He retired as director of institutional purchasing for TAMU, serving from 1980 - 1989. He formerly served in this capacity at University of Texas Permian Basin and University of Houston Clear Lake. He formerly served as president of Texas-Oklahoma-Arkansas Region of the National Association of Educational Buyers. He was a former purchasing agent for Ector County Independent School District. Memorials can be made to First Presbyterian Church in Bryan; Hospice of Brazos Valley, Crohns's and Colitis Foundation of America, 5120 Woodway, Houston, Texas, 77056; or a charity of choice. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- George E. Beeson, 64, of Odessa died Thursday, June 24, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born May 8, 1935, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He married Colleen Hannon June 10, 1955, in Belton. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Bill Heggemeirer officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Beeson managed the Shrimp Boat Restaurant and Jay's Barn Door for several years. He co-owned Air-Way Sheet Metal Co. until 1978 and later was a salesman for Permian Tractor Sales for 6 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Colleen Beeson of Odessa; daughter, Melinda Lively and husband, Steve, of Granbury; and two grandchildren, Matt and Sam Lively. The family suggests memorials go to First United Methodist Church at 415 N. Lee, Odessa, TX 79761 or to West Texas Cancer Center, 600 N. Grant, Odessa, TX 79761.
