June 28, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Willie Hopper GARDENDALE -- Willie Lester Hopper, 80, of Gardendale, died Saturday, June 26, 1999 in Levelland. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery in Midland with the Rev. Carlton Leonard of Stanton officiating. Arrangements by Head Family Funeral Home of Levelland. He was born August 6, 1918 in Cisco. He married Oneta McNees March 9, 1939 in Stanton. He was the son of Willie Lee Hopper and Lena Mae McGary Hopper. He had been a government employee with the city and county of Midland. He worked in the oil patch and had been a gin employee before he retired. He moved to Gardendale from Goldsmith approximately 10 years ago and was a life-long Texan. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dorothy Campell; three brothers Roy Albert and Raymond Hopper; two sisters, Dollie Hopper and Bessie Hopper; and two grandchildren. He is survived by his son, Jim Hopper of Gardendale; daughter, Juneta Mitchell of Levelland; three brothers, Tommy and Cecil Hopper of Portersville, Calif., Johnny Hopper of Marion, Ohio; sisters, Liz McCurdy of Midland, Mae Steely of Portersville, Calif.; grandchildren, Sindy Maggee of Midland, Sherry Edge of Midland, Sandy Adams of Midland, Joe Bob Hopper of Midland, Kim Yonker of Midland, Lisa Napier of Midland and Rann Mitchell of Levelland; and 13 great-grandchildren. _________________________________________________________________ Copyright © 1999 Odessa American.
