June 29, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Brooka June Long Crandall HUNTER, Kan. -- Brooka June Long Crandall, 63, passed away June 26, 1999, at the Deerings Nursing Home in Odessa. She was born on June 6, 1936, in Hunter, Kan., graduating from Hunter High School in 1955, with graduate work from Colby Community College and Cloud County Community College. She was also a Certified CNA, CMA, and Physical Therapist Aide. Brooka and Howard Crandall were married on June 5, 1955, in the Hunter Methodist Church, whereby she and Howard served several Methodist Churches throughout Kansas: Brookville, Mentor, Brewster, Woodston-Alton, Louisburg, Edwardsville, Ash Grove and the Johnson Church in Agra, Kan. While her husband Howard taught in several Kansas schools for more than 20 years in Stockton, Beloit, Agra, Morland, Burr Oak, Elkhart and Tescott, Brooka served as a nurse's aide in Beloit, Lincoln, Mankato, Hill City, Phillipsburg and Elkhart. Also, she and Howard owned and managed the Post Rock Motel in Lincoln, Kan., and for a few years were managers of the Nevada Inn in Boulder City, Nev., and the Shadybrook Estates in Wichita, Kan. For the past eight years, she has served as the office manager of Fair Oaks Garden Apartments in Odessa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and LaWave Long, and her brother, Harold "Shorty" Long. Brooka is survived by her husband, Howard, of Odessa; children, Deborah Crandall of Norton, Kan., Deanna Welch and her husband, Richard, of Sherman and Doug Crandall and his wife, Cindy, of Deerfield, Kan; brothers, William Long and wife, Dana, of Salina, Kan., and Bobby Long and his wife, Arlene, of Ferndale, Wash. Mrs. Crandall is also survived by her five grandchildren, Brooks, Bailey, Brett and Bridget Crandall and Sarah Welch. Viewing of the body will be Wednesday at the Harrison Funeral Home in Beloit, Kan. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Methodist Church in Hunter, Kan., with interment in Greenwood Cemetery in Hunter, Kan. Serving as pallbearers will be Quenten Deiter, Dale Long, Ben Richardson, Melvin Long, Toby Holmes and Wayne Nelson. Arrangements are made through the Harrison Funeral Home in Beloit, Kan., and the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home in Odessa. _________________________________________________________________ Charles Beil Cole Charles Beil Cole, 70, of Stamford, died Friday at his home. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Eisenhower Church of Christ with David Mickey officiating. Burial was Monday in the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford. Mr. Cole was born Dec. 25, 1928, to Norton and Julia Cole in Rule. He married Arlene Bennett Sept. 9, 1949, in Abilene. He was a retired sales representative for the Benjamin Moore, Kelly-Moore and the Monarch paint companies. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. He lived in Odessa for 45 years and moved to Stamford in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Arlene Cole of Odessa; sons, J. Tipton Cole of Austin and Marion Russell Cole of Fort Worth; daughters, Julia Dale Cole of Austin and Lisa Claire Henson of Odessa; sisters, Juanita Holland of Odessa and Becie Robbins of Stamford; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was born in San Benito on April 14, 1924. She was a housewife and a Catholic. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Odessa with the Rev. Frank Chavez officiating. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery. Rosary will be said 7:30 p.m. Monday. Public visitation at the Martinez Funeral Home Chapel from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday and 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home. Mrs. Fernandez was preceded in death by her father, Fidencio Torres, and mother, Maria Sauceda.
