July 01, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Myrtice Lucille Roberts, 96, of Odessa, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at Seabury Nursing Center. She was born Nov. 18, 1902, in Hinton, Ga., to Charles and Fay Bird Thompson. She was one of eight children. A family visitation will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Mrs. Roberts married Earl L. Roberts May 10, 1919, in Marietta, Okla. Mrs. Roberts moved to Odessa in 1956. She was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She will be truly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Roberts; daughter, Jewell Earlene Weeks; sons-in-law, Clarence Weeks, Jimmy Norman and Bill Greer. She is survived by daughters, Juanita Greer and Dorothy Cook, both of Odessa; brothers, Horace Thompson and wife, Inez, and T.J. Thompson and wife, Renerle, all of Weatherford; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 29 great-great grandchildren. _________________________________________________________________ Willie James Turner ODESSA -- Willie James Turner, 65, of Odessa, a retired truck driver, died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at his residence. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Greater St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. T.L. Jones officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home. Public visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Friday at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel and from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. He was born in Carthage to Adell Chatum and the late Odis Turner. He married Rebecca Ruth June 3, 1951. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Odis Turner; brothers, Fred Carter, Leaman Carter and Joe Carter; and sisters, Annie Faye Walton and Mattie Mae Jones. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Ruth Turner of Odessa; sons, James E. Turner and Donald Lee Turner and Harry A. Turner, all of Odessa, and Allen Wayne Turner of Snyder; mother, Adell Chatum of Carthage; brothers, Donald Turner and O.C.
