July 02, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Emma Carolyn Seabolt, 99, of Odessa, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born May 10, 1900, in Mina, Ark., to George and Martha Stevens. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 2, 1999, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Johnny Dickerson officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Mrs. Seabolt moved to Odessa in 1940 from Eunice, N.M. She enjoyed sewing, working in the yard, cooking and traveling. She loved telling stories of days gone by and spending time with her family. Emma always tried to make people laugh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Seabolt, in 1969; children, J.H. Seabolt, E.W. Seabolt, C.D. Seabolt and Wanda Scardino. She is survived by her daughter, Ruby Seabolt Vice of Odessa; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. _________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________ Willie James Turner ODESSA -- Willie James Turner, 65, of Odessa, a retired truck driver, died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at his residence. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Greater St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. T.L. Jones officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home. Public visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Friday at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel and from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. He was born in Carthage to Adell Chatum and the late Odis Turner. He married Rebecca Ruth Simmons June 3, 1951. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Odis Turner; brothers, Fred Carter, Leaman Carter and Joe Carter; and sisters, Annie Faye Walton and Mattie Mae Jones. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Ruth Turner of Odessa; sons, James E. Turner and Donald Lee Turner and Harry A. Turner, all of Odessa, and Allen Wayne Turner of Snyder; mother, Adell Chatum of Carthage; brothers, Donald Turner and O.C. Turner, both of Carthage, Lee Turner of Los Angeles, James Carter of Odessa and Clyde Carter of Fort Worth; sisters, Henrietta Neal of Caddo Mills, Bertha Carter and Paula Toliver, both of Greenville, Ola Mae Kelly of Pampa and Emma McLemore, Euyla Jerningan and Elizabeth Berry, all of Carthage; granddaughters, Valorie Washburn and Jas Rhric "Dinky" Turner, both of Odessa; grandsons, Travis Turner and Brandy Turner, both of Odessa; and great-granddaughter, Samantha Osborn of Odessa. _________________________________________________________________ George Worley George Worley, 75, passed away June 30, 1999, at Sierra Medical Hospital in El Paso, Texas. He was born April 9, 1924, in Eastland. George moved to New Mexico in 1926. He attended school in Milnesand, Dora and Portales, N.M. He enlisted in the Navy at the outbreak of World War II. George served in the Transport Command, Armed Guard and aboard merchant and troop ships including the M.S. Weltevereden, a Dutch ship. George followed the jewelry trade most of his life, including several years as a retail jeweler in El Paso and Odessa and Alamogordo, N.M. After his retirement from the jewelry trade, he pursued his passion for art and painted New Mexico landscapes in a variety of mediums. George is survived by his wife Joy, who was truly the "joy of his life." He is also survived by his children, James Howard and his wife, Dee, of Littleton, Colo., Richard Worley and his wife, Vicki, of Austin, Dolph Worley and his wife, Josie, of Alamogordo, N.M., Sandy-Smith Jouett and her husband, Charley, of Odessa, and Jan Clark and her husband, Michael, of Phoenix, Ariz. George is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held today at Fort Bliss Cemetery in El Paso.
