Henry, 81, of Odessa, died Tuesday, July 6, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Terry Pugh officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Family will greet friends at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. She was born Feb. 3, 1918, in Paducah. She married Grover Cleveland Henry April 5, 1934. Mrs. Henry had lived in Odessa since 1951. She was a retired cook for Furr's Cafeteria. She was a member of First United Pentecostal Church. Survivors include her husband, Grover Henry of Odessa; son, Larry Henry of Odessa; daughter, Linda Tucek of Odessa; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Evelyn Miller, 75, went to be with her Lord and Savior and received her final healing Tuesday, July 6, 1999. She died in her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born March 4, 1924, in Paris, Texas, to Mr. and Mrs. Huey Sims. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Steve Miller officiating. Evelyn moved to Odessa in 1959 from Electra. She enjoyed singing, and in her youth, she cut a record with Slim Whitman. She also loved to fish and loved to work. Evelyn is survived by her two sons, Roy Lindley and Steve Miller; two grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, one great-grandchild, as well as one sister-in-law and many nephews and nieces. There will be a graveside service only. For those of you who would like to send flowers, we ask that instead you make a donation to Community Care Hospice in honor of Evelyn Miller. The family expresses its thanks to Nurses Unlimited and all of mother's faithful providers, as well as the staff and clergy of Hospice, and also a very special thanks to the Rainbow's End Emmaus Community for their prayers and support. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. He was born Feb. 19, 1964, in Santa Ana, Calif. Mark had lived in Austin for the past six years. He was a master carpenter. He was a very active outdoor person. He enjoyed sky diving, scuba diving and rock climbing. Survivors include his sisters, Linda Davis of Apple Valley, Calif., and Sue Mysel of Chino Hills, Calif.; aunt, Charlsie Vickers of Odessa; one niece; three nephews; and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Mary Elizabeth Johnson, 81, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. Graveside services will be at noon Thursday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Robert L. Bratcher officiating. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home. Elizabeth was born May 5, 1918, in Mineola. She married Clarence Author Johnson Jr. on May 23, 1933. Mrs. Johnson was the owner and operator of the Roper Duplexes. She is survived by one daughter, Helen Delores Johnson Evitt, and one grandson, Clarence McKinney Evitt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Author Johnson Jr.; her parents, Virgil D. Allen and Hattie Nina Trimble; and three sisters, Merle Gray, Mae Ridling and Mildred Hullum. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Maywood Moten, 78, of Odessa, died Saturday, July 3, 1999, at his residence. Services will be at noon Saturday at Greater St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. Jasper Williams officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home. Public visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Friday at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. He was born Nov. 2, 1920, in Chilton and lived in Odessa for 58 years. He married Mary Jean Everhart Aug. 3, 1956. He was a retired deliveryman for Sivalls Tanks. He was Baptist. He was preceded in death by his father, Senator Moten; mother, Pearl Baldwin; and daughter, Lizzie Mae Moten. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jean Moten of Odessa; son, Ronnie Earl Moten of Odessa; sister, Juritha Jean Rand of Odessa; and aunt, Georgia Ann Penny of Chilton; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. _________________________________________________________________ Copyright © 1999 Odessa American.
