July 11, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ WALNUT SPRINGS -- Lillian McElroy, 92, of Odessa, died Sunday, July 4, 1999, at Avalon Nursing Home. She was born in Bosque County near the town of Walnut Springs. She was a graduate of Walnut Springs High School and attended Meredion Senior College for two years. She taught in two county schools and then in Idalou after which she entered the University of Texas at Austin and received a bachelor of arts degree. She taught at Dilley Elementary for four years and one year in Waco. She came to Odessa in 1936 where she was employed by Austin Elementary until 1992 until her retirement. She was an exchange teacher in Scotland from 1947 to 1949. She was a member of R.T.A., Delta Kappa Gamma and First Baptist Church. She is survived by one sister, Gloria Miller of Montpelier, Ohio; niece, Beth Martin of Churbusco, Ind.; one nephew of Phoenix, Ariz., and one nephew of Peoria, Ill.; and a number of great-nephews and great-nieces. There will be private services in Walnut Springs. Interment will be in Russell County Cemetery. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Augusta R. Clark, 80, of Odessa died Thursday, July 8, 1999, at her home. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord. She was born in Pine Bluff. Survivors include her sons, John Scott Clark of Petaluma, Calif., Matthew Allen Clark of Portland, Ore., Peter Brett Clark of Beaumont, Mark Logan Clark and Paul Lyman Clark, both of Odessa; sisters, Martha Johnson of Dallas and Mary Frances Elizey of Perryton; and seven grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Buck "Sam" Scheile, born Jan. 1, 1948, in Odessa, went to be with the Lord on June 28, 1999. Sam was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his yard with his dog, eating ribs and preaching the word of God. During his lifetime, Sam was a remodeler, a pipe tester and a soldier in the Vietnam War. Sam is survived by his wife, Robbie L. Scheile; son, Samuel A. Scheile; daughters Kasey L. Scheile and Karey A Grametbaur; mother, Annie L. Scheile, all of Odessa. Survivors also include sister, Judy S. Archer of Alberta, Canada; and brother, Henry Scheile of Schoolcraft, Mich. Sam was preceded in death by his father, Henry A. Scheile and sister, JoAnn Carter. Services were conducted at the Promised Land Christian Retreat on July 2, 1999 by Pastor Jean Oden. Pallbearers were Jesse Jones, Cecil Jones, Les Jones, Jestin Woodruff, Ben Carter and Dudley Mahan. Services were entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Sam fought a hard battle the last four years of his life. During this time he was blessed by many wonderful nurses, techs, other patients and friends.
