July 26, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Lillian "Bea" Millar, 72, of Odessa passed away Friday, July 23, 1999, in a local hospital. She was a former waitress for many years in Odessa at the Club Café and the T-Bar-B Restaurant. Mrs. Millar was married to Kenneth M. Millar who preceded her in death in 1992. Bea requested the following message for all her numerous friends and family: "When I quit this mortal shore and mosey 'round this earth no more, Don't weep, don't sigh, don't grieve, don't sob; I may have struck a better job. Don't go and buy a large bouquet for which you will find it hard to pay. Don't stand around me looking blue; I may be better off than you!" She is survived by her son, Tommy and wife Kathy Millar of Odessa; sister, Violet Kleck of Odessa; 2 grandchildren, Kristie Ramirez and Kelly Millar; and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, July 26, 1999, in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Roger Allen Giba, 56, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Thursday, July 22, 1999, at his home. He was born in Hammond, Ind., April 4, 1943. He served in the United States Marine Corps for six years. He also served in Vietnam. He married Peggy Diane Allen Jan. 28, 1967, and made a beautiful home and life for them and their three children. He was employed by AMOCO for 28 years until his retirement four years ago. Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Latter Rain Worship Center with Gary Albe officiating. He will be put to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens immediately following the services. He is survived by his loving wife and friend of 32 years, Peggy Diane Giba of Odessa; two sons, Darrell Allen Giba and Roger Bryan Giba, both of Odessa; a daughter, Tonya Michelle Giba of Odessa; five wonderful grandchildren, Travis, Terry, Christen and their mother Emma Giba, all of Odessa, and Tanner, Nikki and their mother, Tonya Giba, of Alabama; a stepfather, J.H. Childress of Odessa; father- and mother-in-law, Milton and Jean Allen of Odessa; brother-in-law Don Allen and his wife, Viki, of Odessa; sister-in-law Pam Alexander and her husband, J.D., of Odessa; a number of nieces and nephews, aunts, cousins and just close friends. You fought the good fight. You finished the race and you won. You fought this battle the way the Lord told you to, and he answered your prayers and he healed you. Your rewards in heaven are so great for the strength and courage that you had for your family. You've brought us all through hard times and now you're standing before the throne getting your reward for the accomplishments that you had on this earth. We miss you and we love you, but we know that one day you will meet us at the gates of heaven with your arms opened wide to take us to the mansion that you went ahead and prepared for us. If you would like to see the family, they will be at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday for visitation. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home _________________________________________________________________ Gordon Headlee GRANITE SHOALS -- Gordon Headlee, 69, of Granite Shoals, Texas died July 21, 1999. He was born May 7, 1930, to Dr. Emmet and Marie Headlee in Ector County. He married Joan Smith in Odessa, Texas, on June 5, 1949. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1952 with a B.B.A. For over twenty years he managed the Headlee Medical Clinic in Odessa. In 1973, he and his family moved to Gunnison, Colorado to pursue his primary interest, racing. In 1990, he and his wife retired to Granite Shoals, Texas. Throughout his life Headlee was active in community service. He was a fishing enthusiast and loved the outdoors. He was preceded in death by son, David, in 1991. He is survived by his wife, Joan; son, Gordon, of Bayfield, Colorado; daughter, Claudia, and her husband, Dale Thomas, and their children Jacob and Leah of Gunnison, Colorado. Gordon Headlee was a friend to everyone and a great humanitarian. He will be remembered as a devoted husband and father. The family expresses its gratitude to the staff of Seton Highland Lakes Hospice. Private interment will be Monday, July 26, at Sunset Memorial Gardens followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Odessa with the Rev.
