August 04, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Johnny B. Glidwell Sr. went to be with the Lord August 2, 1999. Services will be held at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel, Thursday, August 5, 1999, at 1 P.M. with Pastor Morgan Bush officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Glidwell was born August 29, 1930, in Madill, Okla. He came to Odessa in 1952 from Sherman, Texas. He served his country in the U.S. Army fighting in Korea. Johnny was a self-employed welder who worked for various companies, the last before his retirement being Waterflood Maintenance. Our Dad was a loving outgoing man who leaves behind a host of friends and family who loved him and cherished him for the wonderful kind hearted man he always was. Johnny was the loving and devoted husband of Polly Glidwell for 17 1/2 years. He was and always will be her "Soulmate." He was a kind and loving father to his children, John Glidwell Jr. and his wife, Sharon, James Glidwell, Donna Leonard and her husband, Woody, Diana Beaver and husband Eddie, Tammy Walker and her husband, Ivan. Johnny was a bright and shining star to his other children, Mike Stewart and his wife Kandy, JoAnn Owens and her husband, Jerry, Sheila Black and her husband, Bob. He was PaPa to 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Lee Glidwell of Sherman and Buford Glidwell of Arlington. Johnny has left his earthly home and leaves a great void in our lives, but he will remain forever in our hearts. We all love you II Timothy 4: 6-7 "For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." "Griff" Griffin, 67, of Odessa, died Monday, Aug. 2, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jim Ray Brown, Bobby C. Duncan and Pat Griffin. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. He was born July 18, 1932, in Quentin, Miss. He married Carrie L. Clayton Nov. 9, 1957, in Tyler. Mr. Griffin moved to Odessa in 1959 form Snyder. He established Dixie Drug in Odessa which he operated for many years. He was a First Lieutenant during the Korean Conflict. He a was graduate of pharmacology of Ole Miss University. He was a 32 degree Master Mason. He was presently employed with Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Carrie Griffin of Odessa; son, Kenneth Proby Griffin and wife, Jenny of Tyler; daughters, Betty Bailey and husband, Larry of Odessa, Cathy Griffin of Los Angeles, Leta Griffin Marler and husband, Butch of Midland; brother, Walter Griffin of Georgia; sister, Lucille Newell of New Orleans, La.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Cynthia Gail Kirkpatrick ODESSA -- Cyndii Kirkpatrick, 36, of Odessa, died Saturday, July 31, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born March 11, 1963, in Houston. Ms. Kirkpatrick was a former airlines customer service representative. She moved to Midland from Houston in 1985 and to Odessa in 1998 from Midland. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Midland. She was preceded in death by her nephew, Christopher Hodges. She is survived by a son, Ryan King of Austin, and his stepfather, Eddie Kirkpatrick; her father, Vernon King and wife, Paula of Houston; her mother, Pat Reed and husband, Don, formerly of Odessa; brother, Darren King of Oregon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a college fund for Ryan, c/o S&W Federal Credit Union, 1430 Enclave Pkw., Houston, TX 77077. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Celso Melchor Serrano, 45, of Odessa, died Monday, Aug. 2, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Joe Lopez and Thomas Flores officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel. He was born April 14, 1953, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico. He was preceded in death by his father, Vicente Serrano. Survivors include his sons, Adrian Serrano of Odessa; daughters, Sorai Serrano of Odessa; mother, Manuela M.
