August 14, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Manuela Gomez Abila, 73 years of age, passed away on August 13, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born on September 29, 1925, in Barstow. Mrs. Abila was a member of St. Joseph's and St. Anthony's Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Lady's Altar Society, the Carmelites and the Crusillistas. Mrs. Abila was preceded in death by her son, Cepriano Abila, and her sister, Elauteria Salgado. She is survived by her husband, Antonio Abila of Odessa; sons, Felipe Abila and his wife, Maria, of Odessa, Paul Abila and his wife, Lydia, of Brownwood, Greg Abila and his wife, Annette, of San Antonio, Tony Abila Jr. and his wife, Lupe, of Odessa and Manuel Abila of Odessa; one daughter, Mary Abila Heredia and her husband, Manuel, of Odessa; brothers, George Gomez of Odessa, Epifanio Gomez of San Francisco, Calif.; sisters, Maria Salgado of Midland, Paulina Ojeda of Pecos and Cecilia Correra of Midland. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Martinez Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
