August 24, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Lola May McDonald, 84, of Odessa, died at 6:05 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital where she had been hospitalized since July 22. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Trey Stevenson officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mrs. McDonald was born in Follett on October 7, 1914. She attended public schools in Libscomb County. She graduated summa cum laude from Baylor University in 1935. While attending Baylor University, she received the honor of being selected as a "Baylor Beauty" in 1934. Mrs. McDonald taught school in Follet until she married Malvern G. McDonald on June 7, 1937. She lived in Odessa for the past 62 years. She was active in many organizations and served on various governing boards from 1937 to 1964 while Malvern served as City Attorney of Odessa. Mrs. McDonald is preceded in death by her husband, Malvern G. McDonald; her daughter, Lola Janeen Taylor; her sister, Evelyn Gragg; and two brothers, Robert and Richard Sewell. She is survived by her son, George M. McDonald of Dallas; six grandchildren: Allan McDonald, Mrs. Shannon Sliwinski, Larry Wayne Taylor, Mrs. Wendy Starks, Jonathan and Julie Taylor; and four great grandchildren. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. _________________________________________________________________ Lucille H. "Sue" Barrett ODESSA -- Lucille H. "Sue" Barrett, 81, of Odessa, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Jan. 6, 1918, in White County, Ill., to Owen Hunsinger and Elizabeth Merritt Hunsinger. Mrs. Barrett came to Odessa in 1953 from Hannibal, Mo. Sue worked for several department stores in Odessa as a tailor. She enjoyed her grandchildren and working in her yard. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Mrs. Barrett was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Owen J. Hunsinger; and son, Jean K. Barrett. Survivors include her husband, Elmer E. Barrett of Odessa; son, John Barrett and wife Eleanor of Odessa; daughter, Sue Tisdale and husband Dwain of Odessa; brother, Robert Hunsinger of Wichita, Kan.; sister, Helen H. Stump of Harrisburg, Ill.; grandsons, Bill Tisdale and wife Jamie of Odessa, J.J. Barrett of El Paso; granddaughters, Cori Thane and husband Gerald of Midland, Penalope Barrett of Odessa, September Hickman of Odessa; and seven great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Frank W.
