August 26, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Isabel DeAnda Chavez, 61, of Tucson, Ariz., died Saturday, Aug. 21, 1999, in Tucson, Ariz. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. She was born Dec. 24, 1937, in Alpine, Texas. She was Catholic. Survivors include her husband, Cecilio Chavez of Tucson, Ariz.; sons, Cecilio Gerardo "Gary" Chavez, Gabriel Craig Chavez and August DeAnda Chavez, all of Tucson, Ariz.; mother, Brigida Cobos DeAnda of Odessa; brothers, Luis DeAnda and Marcelo DeAnda, both of Odessa, and George DeAnda of Louisville, Ky.; sisters, Marta Bustamante and Mary Ann Almanza, both of Odessa, Angie Brown of Garland, Dolores Marin of Midland and Vivian Chavez of Springfield, Va.; two grandchildren, Christopher Gabriel Chavez and Erica Lorraine Chavez. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel. _________________________________________________________________ Diana Camille Kerr ODESSA -- Diana was born on Nov. 11, 1955, in Kermit, to Harper and Orene Peddicord. She passed away Aug. 24, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. today at the Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Survivors include her husband, Benny Lee Kerr of Odessa; daughters, Kyla Lynn Kerr and Shay Camille Kerr, both of Odessa; her parents, Dr. Harper Peddicord of Kermit and Dr. Orene Gott of Odessa; sisters, Ruth Brisco of Lubbock and Benita Bradford of Arlington. Diana was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord. She graduated cum laude with a degree in psychology from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in 1996. She also volunteered and supported the Odessa Suicide Prevention Hotline. The family requests donations be made to the Suicide Prevention Hotline in Odessa. Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Harold Louis Lea TEXARKANA -- Mr. Harold Louis Lea, 62, of Nash, died Monday, Aug. 23, 1999, at his residence. Mr. Lea was born Sept. 24, 1936, in McLean, and had lived in Texarkana for the past 30 years. He was retired from Bunch's Wholesale Inc., was a member of the Baptist Church and was a veteran of the Marines. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Lea. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Liz" Gildon Lea of Nash; son and daughter-in-law, John and Lisa Lea of Texarkana; daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and David McWilliams of Wilton, Ark., and Theresa and Donnie Wallace of Texarkana, Ark.; his father, Robert E. Lea Jr. of Odessa; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Debbie Lea of Odessa; grandchildren, Candace Wallace, Randy Wallace, David Wayne McWilliams and Amanda Lea; mother-in-law, Estelle Gildon of Nash; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lewis and Deanna Gildon of Wake Village; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. today in the Fuqua-Everett Memorial Chapel of the Texarkana Funeral Home with the Revs. Earl Taylor and Orville Farren officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens. Luck, 55, of Odessa, died Monday, Aug. 23, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Nov. 19, 1943, in Seminole, Okla. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Ernest Easley officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Luck moved to Odessa in June 1947. He was a graduate of Odessa High School, attended Jacksonville Baptist College and graduated from Baylor University. He was a member of First Baptist Church exceeding 25 years. Mr. Luck was employed by the City of Odessa as an inspector. He is preceded in death by his father, George H. Luck; and brother, Richard D. Luck. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Luck of Odessa; son, Joel Luck of Plano; daughters, Melissa Thornell of Plano and Cheryl Luck of Denton; mother, Mrs. George Luck of Odessa; three granddaughters; sisters, Gloria Ator of Odessa and Eleanor Shelton of Midland. If desired, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- John N. Sims, 67, passed away on Aug. 24, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. Mr. Sims was born on April 24, 1932, in Bay Springs, Miss. A resident of Odessa, he was self-employed in the oil industry. After retirement he worked for Greens Pipe Service and belonged to the Elks Lodge and was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Karen Sims of Odessa; daughters, Leisa Bridges of Bay Springs, Miss., Teresa Steffey, Felicia Sims, Lenna Hamilton and Brenda Bailey, all of Odessa; sisters, Fannie Jones and Fredna Brown, both of Odessa, Annie Neinkark of Liberty Hills; stepson, James Berry of Odessa; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Friday at Martinez Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
