August 30, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- C. L. Crosby, son of Lee and Josie Crosby, passed away August 27, 1999, in an Odessa Hospital. He was born December 26, 1928, in Paden, Okla., C. L. was an employee of Sharp Drilling Company and retired in April 1986. He had been a resident of Odessa since 1963, and was a member of Life Challenge Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Josie Crosby, his brother H. D. Crosby; his son, Danny Crosby, 2 grandsons, Christopher Dean Crosby and Robbie Lee Crosby. C. L. is survived by his loving wife, Fern Crosby of Odessa; 4 daughters, Sharon Joyce Watts of Odessa, Mary Dixon of Odessa, Sandra Crosby of Austin and Clara Arocha of Slaton; 3 sisters, Ida Vancleve of Henryetta, Okla., Iva Pyle of Paden, Okla., and Lavada Dionne of Paden, Okla., 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services were Sunday, August 29, 1999, in Life Challenge United Pentecostal Church, 5000 N. Grandview, with the Rev. Dan Smeltser officiating. Additional services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Burnett Mission Church, Paden, Okla., Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery in Paden, Okla. under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Prague, Okla. Local services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Michael David Welch, 46, of Odessa, died Friday, August 27, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital of a heart condition. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Terry Wright officiating. He was born on Oct. 9, 1952, in Midland and married Penny Robinson on April 8, 1972. Mr. Welch moved to Odessa from Midland. He was a plant operator for Arco and retired in 1990. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1971. He was a Staff Sgt. in the Marine Corp. He was a member of Westover Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Penny Welch of Odessa; son, Michael Thomas and wife Susan Welch of Odessa; daughter, Shannon Marie Welch of San Angelo; brothers, Alton Dewayne Welch of Stephenville and Bobby Dale Welch of Odessa. _________________________________________________________________ Copyright © 1999 Odessa American.
