September 02, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Floyd Tims, 72, of Odessa, died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. No services are scheduled. He was born in Stephenville and moved to Monahans in 1972 from Iraan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Purvis Tims, on Sept. 3, 1970, and his brother, Henry Tims. He retired from Meridian Oil as a production foreman. He is a veteran of the Army. Survivors include his wife, Birdie Tims of Monahans; sons, James Edward Munro of Odessa and Horace Harold Munro Jr. of McCamey; daughters, Susan Elileen Tims of New York, N.Y., Cheryl Alison Cunningham of Monahans, Floy Jeanne Elam of Abilene, Kathleen Rice of Arlington, Donna Lee Sanders of Ozona; sisters, Betty Ruth Dickerson of Espanola, N.M., Frances Eloise Velarde of Espanola, N.M., and Dorothy Elaine Hunter of Espanola, N.M.; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. _________________________________________________________________ Roger Porter ODESSA -- Roger Porter, 63, of Odessa, died Aug. 31, 1999, at his residence. He was born Sept. 21, 1935, in Olney. He married Violet Murdoch March 1, 1958, in Lubbock. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at Jayton Cemetery with the Rev. Ted Short officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Mr. Porter graduated from Texas Tech in 1959 with a bachelor's degree in business. He moved to Odessa in 1960 and was a member of Crescent Park Baptist Church. He was also a 32nd degree Mason with the McFarland Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Porter is survived by his wife, Violet Porter of Odessa; daughter, Sabrina Elzner of Houston; sons, Kasey Porter of Houston and Kelly Porter of Fort Stockton; and three granddaughters, all of Houston.
