September 03, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ James Baucum Sr. NEWTON, Miss. -- James Baucum Sr., 72, of Odessa, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at his residence. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Newton, Miss. Burial will be at Poplar Springs Cemetery. He was born Jan. 2, 1927, in Newton, Miss. He married Clara Waterloo July 2, 1948. Mr. Baucum moved to Odessa in 1952 from Newton, Miss. He was a masonry constructor and a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Clara Baucum of Odessa; sons, James Baucum Jr. and Paul Baucum, both of Odessa; daughter, Nancy Millik of Katy; brother, Frank Baucum of Newton, Miss.; sister, Lena Cleveland of Baton Rouge, La.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Flora Belle Campbell ODESSA -- Belle Campbell, loving Mother, Nanny, Sister, Aunt and wonderful friend, left this Earth to enter into her heavenly home on Aug. 31, 1999, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Jan. 3, 1922, in Cameron to Sam and Maude Springer. On Aug. 1, 1953, she married her soul mate, Casper "Cap" Campbell, in Waco. Soon after their wedding, they moved to Odessa where they raised their two children, Susie and James. They celebrated 40 years of marriage before his death in 1993. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: being a homemaker and grandmother, going fishing and watching westerns. Above all, she loved spending time with her family. She had been a member of George Knauff Rebekah Lodge #119, and the I.O.O.F Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Casper; parents, Sam and Maude Springer; son, Charles Ray French; sisters, Adine White, Christine Pack, Sammie Allen and Loraine Springer; and brother, Buddy Springer. Survivors include daughter, Susie Sarakas and husband, Al, of Odessa; sons, Rodney Lee French and wife, Peggy, of Sacramento, Calif., and James Richard Campbell of Odessa; beloved grandchildren, Crystal Dawn Kocher and husband, Chris, of Endicott, N.Y., Shauna Sue Sarakas of Tucson, Ariz.; David Alan Sarakas Jr. of Odessa, Ronnie French, Kelly French, Toby French and Darren French, all of Sacramento, Calif., and Troy French of Phoenix; sisters, Della Beckworth and Nellie Anderson, both of Waco; Mildred Hilliard of Rosebud and Frances Davis of Hewitt; brothers-in-law, Jerry. L. Campbell and wife, Linda, of Beatrice, Neb., and Bill Campbell and wife, Sylvia, of Calera, Okla.; sister-in-law, Caronita Sue Campbell of Odessa; and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Witherspoon officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Gary Dillingham, Lynn Dillingham and Nikki Dillingham, Sam Payen, Buck Lewis and Juan Carlos Bustamante. The family will accept visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Odessa Christian School. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Margaret "Fern" Francis, 64, of Odessa, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. She was born Oct. 19, 1934, in Anson. She married her husband, Kenneth "K.D." Francis, May 19, 1951. He preceded her in death Jan. 22, 1993. Mrs. Francis moved to Odessa in 1968 from Abilene. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include her sons, Gary Don Francis and Michael Allen Francis, both of Odessa; daughters, Elizabeth Ann Roedel and Debbie Lee Smith, both of Odessa; brothers, James Mayfield of Abilene and Marvin Mayfield of Odessa; sister, Virginia Kyle of Arlington; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Bryan Moody Goodson ODESSA -- Byran Moody Goodson was born on Jan. 24, 1927, in Dublin to George and Georgia Goodson. He passed away at his home on Sept. 2, 1999. He was preceded in death by his sons, Stanley Joe and Darrell Keith Goodson; and his brother, G.W. Goodson Jr. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Law of Chapel Hill Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Goodson grew up in Dublin. He went into the Army near the end of World War II and he was a Staff Sergeant. He married Delores Jean Chesnut on Aug. 16, 1947, in Jacksboro. They came to Odessa in 1963. He retired from Texaco in January 1989 after 26 years of service. Mr. Goodson enjoyed camping with his family over the years and also enjoyed fishing. He was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Jean Goodson of Odessa; his son, Johnny Bryan Goodson and his wife, Cheryl, of Odessa; his daughter, Candy Brymer and her husband, Elic, of Odessa; his brother, Elda G. Goodson of Freer; his sisters, Cliftine Brumbelow of Deleon, Nellie Beazley of Odessa and Georgia A. Walker, also of Odessa; five grandchildren, Bryan Goodson, Michael Porter, Cassie Porter, Ashley Brymer, Matthew Brymer; and many neices and nephews. The family request the donations be made to Chapel Hill Baptist Church, 1820 E. 52nd Street, Odessa 79762.
