September 8, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Floy Mae Goode ODESSA -- Wednesday, Sept. 7, 1999, was her last day on Earth. This was the day Floy Mae Goode met her maker. Floy was born March 19, 1925, in Haskell, to Elton and Effie Strickland. She spent most of her formative years in Rochester. In this town, she met and then later married her husband, Lloyd Goode, on Oct. 5, 1940. She and Lloyd had seven children, with births spanning from 1942 until 1967. Motherhood seemed to be her life's calling (more than just her children thought of her as mom.) Lloyd preceded her in death. He died on Dec. 5, 1974. She never remarried. Instead, she dedicated her life to the Lord. She epitomized righteousness, always studying his word and following after his teachings. She was the co-pastor and a founding member of The River of Life Church. This church and its congregation were an important part of her life and were never far from her heart. Floyd died at Medical Center Hospital. She was 74 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; father, Elton; mother, Effie Rouse; sister, Betty Badgwell; and her great-grandson, Christopher Ming. She is survived by her children, Eddie and Diana Goode of Procter, Gayle and Junior Walters, Deborah and Robin Walker, Vicky and Steve Baker and Karen Goode, all of Odessa, Rick and Jill Goode of Baytown and Shayne Goode of Austin; seven siblings, Glendora Parker, Wanda Jones, Rachel Gard, Imagene Peterson, Claude Strickland, Donna Sue Honnell and Michael Strickland; 19 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Deoram Bholan officiating. Graveside services will be at 5 p.m. Friday in Rochester. She was our treasure and we loved her so very much. There will be such a void without her. Her physical presence will be greatly missed, but her spiritual presence will always be with us. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________ Ronald Edward Pokorny DALLAS -- Ronald Edward Pokorny passed away September 5, 1999, after a brave battle with cancer.
