September 11, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Paula Denise Bachman ODESSA -- Paula Denise Bachman, 44, of Odessa, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Revs. Freida Bryant and Holly Ensey officiating. Visitation will start at Hubbard-Kelly at 1 p.m. Saturday. She was born July 24, 1955, in Tucson, Ariz. Denise moved to Odessa in 1970 from Illinois. She obtained her bachelor's degree at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin and a master's degree at Texas Woman's University. She was employed at Odessa College as a learning resources specialist and head of technical services for 12 years. Survivors include her daughter, Erin Bachman and grandchildren, Christopher Frank Fowler and Madison Nicole Fowler, all of Odessa; parents, Harvey and Carolyn Sue Reed of Odessa; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Joyce Reed and children, Corbin Reed and Misty Bassham, all of Visalia, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law, Falena and Ron Hurt of Baltimore, Md.; Uncle and Aunt, Rick and Sharon Singer and family of Mount Carmel, Ill. The family suggests memorials to the Odessa College Scholarship Fund in memory of Denise Bachman. _________________________________________________________________ Rhonda Higginbotham STANTON -- Rhonda Keys Higginbotham, 36, of Midland, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, near Sterling City. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Frazier officiating. She was born Oct. 13., 1962, in Atlanta, Ga. She lived in Midland four years and was assistant manger at a Town and Country Store. She loved music, collecting Indian artifacts and spending time with her family. Survivors include her son, Ricky Higginbotham of Midland; daughter, Amber Higginbotham of Midland; mother, Sandra Keys of Midland; brother, Randy Keys of Odessa; sisters, Tori Keys Steen and Staci Keys Baker, both of Odessa; granddaughter, Taci Higginbotham; two nieces and a nephew. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Arrangements by Gilbreath Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Gloria Elizabeth Turner was born on March 9, 1928, in Los Angeles, Calif. She passed away Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, after a lengthy illness. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Turner came to Odessa in 1954. She worked as a waitress for the Barn Door, the Holiday lnn and also the Shrimp Boat many years ago. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Gloria is survived by her sons, Sonny Turner and his wife Terri of Odessa and Ron Turner and his wife Susan of Mesquite; her grandchildren, Sunni, Lora, Stuart, Shonna and Shannda Turner and Jason and Jamie Hammick; her great-grandson, Trevor Michael Turner; and also her beloved pets, Tiffany and Tony. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, whom she loved very much.
