September 14, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Edward Joseph Castillo was born to Edward and Stella Castillo Aug. 14, 1981, in Odessa. He graduated in May 1999 from Odessa High School, and was attending San Antonio College. Joseph is survived by his parents, Ed and Stella Castillo; sister, Valarie Castillo; maternal grandparents, Jose and Delia Lozano; paternal grandparents, Edward Sr. and Rita Castillo; aunts and uncles, Hilda and Jose Cervantes and family, Blanca and Isaac Lozano and family and Jacob and Linda Lozano and family. Joseph was a kind, thoughtful, sweet and generous young man. He had many friends that cared for him deeply because of his loving and giving spirit. With his quiet ways and precious smile, he was always there for his family and friends. He was a very special person with so much love to give and life to live. Joseph was called to be with our Lord on September 11, 1999. We all know that he is in heaven looking down upon us and he will be our guardian angel forever. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, September 14, 1999, at 1 p.m. at Martinez Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with the Rev. Frank Chavez officiating. Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. in Martinez Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. We will always treasure the time we spent with him on this earth, the footprints he left will never be forgotten. Harlan Jr., 73, of Odessa, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens. He was born July 21, 1926, in Graham. He married Lillian Wilson March 24, 1972, in Fort Worth. Mr. Harlan has lived in Odessa since 1983. He retired in 1994 from Baker-Hughes as a salesman. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post #4372. Survivors include his wife, Lillian Harlan of Odessa; daughter, Anne Nyland of Austin; sisters, Bertha Cunningham of Granbury, Zoe Hubbard of Fort Worth, Doris Schrouder of Graham and Robbie Ratliff of Fort Worth; 4 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many relatives and friends. Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Joe R. Yocham MONAHANS -- Joe R. Yocham of Coleman died September 10, 1999, at the age of 74. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. today at Harkey Funeral Chapel. He was born in Caddo to Russell and Opal Yocham. Mr. Yocham was a veteran of World War II, and afterwards began working in the oil field. After moving to Monahans in the early 1960s, the family began several businesses, one being Yocham Grocery. He often spoke of having been fortunate to have lived in Monahans, mainly because of the people in and around the oil business. He later worked overseas in the Middle East and Central America as an oil and gas consultant. Mr. Yocham looked at life with humor and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Mr. Yocham is survived by his wife, Lou Ellen, of Coleman; two sons, Joe W. Yocham of Maine and Tommy D.
