September 15, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Mary Frances McShan Cummins BALLINGER -- Mary Frances McShan Cummins, 78, of The Woodlands, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, in The Woodlands. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger. Services by Rains-Seale Funeral Home. She was born Oct. 21, 1912, in Winters. She was a lifelong member of the Baptist church and attended school in Winters and Abilene, class of 1940. She later moved to Colorado City in 1943 and then to Odessa. She moved to Conroe and The Woodlands in 1985 where she lived until her death. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, M.E. Miller and Littie Miller; and brother, Robert C. Miller. Survivors include sons, Pat A. McShan and wife, Nan, and Howard Marcus McShan and wife, Angela, all of Montgomery, Texas; twin brother, William Floyd Miller of Odessa; grandchildren, Kari Masters of Austin, Scott McShan of The Woodlands, Matthew McShan and Jessica McShan, both of Conroe; and three great-grandchildren, Kyle Masters, Dyle and Jacob McShan. _________________________________________________________________ Curtis Louis Crenshaw ODESSA -- Curtis Louis Crenshaw, 74, of Newnan, Ga., died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. Graveside services were held Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Bill Heggemeier officiating. He was born Nov. 23, 1924, in Fisher County, Texas. He married his wife, Frances Wilson, May 13, 1945, in Winters. Curtis and family left Odessa in 1965 to move to Farmington, N.M., where they resided until 1969, moving to Roswell, N.M. In 1971, they moved to Utah where they resided until moving to Georgia in 1992. Curtis worked for Welex Wireline Services, a division of Halliburton, for 28 years. He retired in 1987. He was Methodist. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Martha Jo Crenshaw; three brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include his wife, Frances Crenshaw of Newnan, Ga.; daughter, Kathy Crenshaw Babbitt of Peachtree, Ga.; sister, Maude Kuykendall of Brownfield; and granddaughter, Amanda Babbitt. Services were entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ W.E. "Bill" Gilbert CLEBURNE -- W.E "Bill" Gilbert, 92, passed away Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Midland Memorial Hospital and Medical Center. Mr. Gilbert was born March 19, 1907, to Alfred and Olive Gilbert in Whitney, Hill County. He married Wanda Caddell on June 29, 1928, in Levelland. He is preceded in death by his father and mother; one daughter, Laquita Joy; four brothers and four sisters. In the early years, he worked as a cowboy on the Slaughter Ranch in Hockley County and as a farmer. In 1957, he went into the business field, owning and operating Odessa Security Service for a number of years. He continued to work in security until retirement. He was a Baptist since age 30. He is survived by six sons and two daughters, Waldo Gilbert and wife, Chris, of Fort Smith, Ark.; Vernon Gilbert and wife, Shirley, of Midland; Kenneth Gilbert and wife, Norma, of Pocolo, Okla.; Jack Gilbert and wife, Linda, of Van Buren, Ark.; Arlina Roland and husband, James, of Gardendale; Nelda Harris and husband, Charles, of Odessa; David Gilbert and wife, Michele, of Springdale, Ark.; Frank Gilbert and wife, Theresa, of Tull, Ark. He had 26 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, also several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rose Hill Cemetery with the Revs. Charles Payne and Mark Ely officiating.
