September 16, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ William Jack Sullivan ODESSA -- William Jack Sullivan, 80, of Odessa, died Wednesday Sept. 15, 1999, in Abilene. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Eisenhower Church of Christ with Gary Sullivan and Dwight Whitsett officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. The family will meet with friends at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. He was born Feb. 26, 1919, in Amarillo. He married Jessie Bernice Williams May 27, 1941, in Weatherford. She preceded him in death Oct. 6, 1995. Mr. Sullivan was a longtime resident of Odessa. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was an oilfield electrical equipment salesman. He was a member of Eisenhower Church of Christ. Survivors include his son, Gary Sullivan and wife, Paullette, of Houston; daughter, Brenda Whitsett and husband, Dwight, of Abilene; sisters, Doris Pate, Gladys Haney and Neta Gibson and husband, Charles, all of Lubbock; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Elizabeth Foreman HOUSTON -- Elizabeth Foreman, 82, was born Sept. 8, 1917, in Louisiana. She died Sept. 14, 1999, in Houston. She graduated from Stamford High School in Stamford in 1934 and from West Texas State University in 1938. In 1941 she married Milton Monroe Foreman and moved to Odessa, where they lived until 1987. While in Odessa she was a Sunday school teacher at First Methodist Church and was an active member of the Black Gold Chapter of the American Business Women's Association. She worked for over 20 years at J.J. Steel Co. Coming to Houston in 1987, she managed the Scripture Shop until 1995. In Houston, she was a member of West Oaks Baptist Church and member of the Ruth Sunday school Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, M. M. Foreman. She is survived by twin sons, Lynn Foreman and Donald Foreman, both of Houston; four grandchildren, Susan Bain, Beverly Ferguson, James Foreman and P.J. Foreman; and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at West Oaks Baptist Church, 6403 Addicks Clodin, with the Rev. Sam Waltman officiating. Services by Bellaire Southwest Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Charles M. "Charlie" Hickman ODESSA -- Charles M. "Charlie" Hickman, 67, of Odessa, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Gardens. He was born May 19, 1932, in Bristow, Okla. Mr. Hickman was a lifelong resident of Odessa. He worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. for 43 years and retired in 1994. He was a 32 degree Mason and Member of Crane Masonic Lodge and a Shriner. He raised pheasants. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Polly Tatum. Survivors include his son, Charles Hickman Jr. of Odessa; daughter, Donna Warmack of Westminster, Calif.; brothers, Rick Hickman of Arlington, Ray Hickman and Bill Hickman, both of Amarillo; sister, Betty Chamblis of Sunray; fiancée, Sue Johnson of Odessa; nine grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Massingill, 71, of Lubbock, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at his residence. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Revs. Claude Craven and Clyde Blakeley officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home. He was born Oct. 13, 1927, in Crane. He was a veteran of the Navy during World War II. He was the founder of Massingill and Son Construction Company, Well-Co Oil Service and Black Gold Properties. Survivors include his son, Mark Massingill and wife, Cindy, of Levelland; daughter, Lynn Massingill of Lubbock; brother, James Massingill of Big Spring; sisters, Oteka Hunt of Odessa, Leola Green of Big Spring and Jamie Crittenden of New Iberia, La; and granddaughter, Laurie Massingill of Levelland. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Lubbock or the American Cancer Society.
