September 19, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Barbara Alyne Fuller, 73, of Odessa died of cancer on Sept. 18, 1999, in a local hospital. Alyne was born May 12, 1926, in Bishop in Nueces County to Hugh E. and Mary Jane Miller. She attended school in New London and survived the school explosion there in 1937. She was a talented musician and won state as a flutist in high school. She attended Kilgore Junior College and was a member of the band. She married Jon Fuller Sr. on July 7, 1947, in New London. They moved to Odessa in December 1957. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she worked diligently in many church positions. In addition to church work, she enjoyed baking, sewing, needlepoint and doing genealogical research. She worked some outside the home and was one of the first female letter carriers in Texas. She worked in food service and served as the manager of the Blackshear cafeteria and the Ham Yankee restaurant. Known affectionately as "Sissy" to her family, Alyne was a loving wife and mother and a doting grandmother. She leaves behind her husband of 52 years, one son, five daughters, eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Her children are Barbara Earl and husband, Tony, of Seattle, Dr. Jon Fuller Jr. and wife, Paula, of Moab, Utah, Suzanne Fletcher and husband, Tommy, of Abilene, Melinda McGaugh and husband, Rick, of Lubbock, Nancy Fuller of Midland and Scharlotte Smith and husband, GayIon, of Norman, Okla. A sister, Corrinne Foley, resides in Garland. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, in Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2011 N. Washington, with Bishop Spencer Thompson and Bishop Gaylon Smith Sr. officiating. The eulogy will be brought by Andy Varga. The interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Her grandsons will honor her by serving as pallbearers. They are Greg McGaugh, Jon Fuller III, Gaylon Smith Jr., Ryan Fuller, Bryan Smith and Kevin Smith. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Jack Donohue ODESSA -- Jack Donohue, 64, of Houston passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at Beechnut Manor in Houston. He was born Dec. 23, 1934 in Birmingham, Ala., to James and Annie Mulholland Donohue. Jack lived in Odessa from 1975 until I994. He married Elsie Jordan Sept. 18, 1980, in Odessa. They moved to Houston in 1994. Mr. Donohue was a longtime parishioner of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Odessa. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with the Rev. Earl Toups officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Survivors include his wife, Elsie Donohue of Houston; son, Jack Donohue of San Antonio; daughters, Patricia Donohue Webb of Mission, Dee Dee Poteete of San Antonio, Mary Ann Gallager of Albuquerque, N.M.; sister, Rose Ann Carroll of Mission; stepson Jacks Nickens of Houston; stepdaughter, Dolores Bishop of Burleson; eight grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Box 53900, Baton Rouge, La., 70892-3900. _________________________________________________________________ Gail Lynn Wilson Rains HOUSTON -- Gail Lynn Wilson Rains died Sept. 17, 1999, from complications caused by Lupus and heart disease. She was born on Feb. 3, 1952, in Pampa and graduated from Pampa High School in 1970. Gail was a graduate of Texas Tech University in 1974, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. She has been actively involved in Christian Education through First Presbyterian Churches in Odessa and Waco and Northwoods Presbyterian Church in Houston. Gail will be remembered as a wonderful mother and friend who truly celebrated life with an immeasurable capacity to love. She devoted her life to Christian service, especially children and youth ministries. She was preceded in death by her father, Michael O. Wilson Jr. She is survived by daughters, Courtney Beth Rains of Bryan and Heather Anne Rains of Waco; mother, Helen Wilson of Pampa; sisters, Susan Ross of Amarillo and Peggy Jamerson and husband, Calvin, of Tomball; nieces and nephews, Brian, Greg and Stephanie Harper of Grapevine, Stephanie and Stephen Ross of Amarillo and Sarah and David Jamerson of TombaIl; as well as numerous other relatives and friends who loved her dearly. The memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at Northwoods Presbyterian Church, located at 3320 Northwoods Drive, in Houston. Memorials may be sent to a scholarship fund set up for her daughters at Northwoods Presbyterian Church, Houston; The American Heart Association or Mo Ranch at HCI, Box 158, Hunt, TX 78024.
