October 14, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Billy Clayton Cantrell ODESSA -- Billy Clayton Cantrell, 67, of Fort Worth, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Fort Worth. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Lee and Joe Chase officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. He was born June 17, 1932, in San Saba. He married Dianne Liverman April 4, 1959, in Crane. She died Aug. 12, 1990. Mr. Cantrell moved to Odessa in 1960. He worked in and around the oilfields for many years. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He moved to Fort Worth in 1998 to be near his daughter. Survivors include his daughter, Schelle Waldran of Lewisville; and his son, Brian W. Cantrell of San Antonio. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Lillye Maye Grooms Bryant ODESSA -- Lillye Maye Grooms Bryant, of Odessa, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at Odessa Regional Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Heggemeier officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. She was born Oct. 28, 1905, in Buffalo. Mrs. Bryant moved to Odessa in 1953 from Hobbs, N.M. She was an educator, learned scholar, sincere friend and a really great mother. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Bryant Sr.; daughter, Jacque Love; three brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include her son, Robert F. Bryant Jr. of Bellingham, Wash.; sister, Geraldine Gregory of Baton Rouge, La.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Cecil Carlisle EVANT -- Cecil Carlisle, 75, of Evant, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at his residence. Services were Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at Evant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Amon Langston, of Odessa, officiating. Burial was at Kingsbury Cemetery. Arrangements were by Evant Funeral Home. He was born in Rotan. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Juanita Carlisle of Evant; son, Cecil Ray Carlisle of Amarillo; daughters, Letha Walker of Odessa and Myrtle Carlisle, both of Odessa; sister, Odessa Henry of Comanche; eight grandchildren; and nine great-great children. _________________________________________________________________ Joe Alvin Quain ODESSA -- Joe Alvin Quain, 82, of Odessa, died Oct. 12, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Sept. 2, 1917, in San Saba County. Mr. Quain moved to Odessa from Hobbs, N.M., in the late 40's. He was a retired roughneck and veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nora Lee Otte; and brothers, Buster and Pete Quain. Survivors include a brother, Roderick Quain of Richland Springs; sisters, Marie Chesser and Josie Hughes, both of Odessa; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with the Rev. David Atkins officiating. Interment with follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
