October 17, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Dorothy F. Freeman, 61, of Odessa passed away Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, in a local hospital. Mrs. Freeman was born Dec. 25, 1937, in Eastland County, Texas. She was raised in Eastland and Ranger and moved to Odessa in 1950. She married Benny Ray Freeman on April 9, 1955, in Odessa and had worked for Ector County for nine years. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary Harrison, and two brothers, Joe Wayne Harrison and Johnny D. Harrison. She is survived by her husband, Benny Freeman of Odessa; a son, Ricky L. Freeman and his wife, Kim, of Odessa; two daughters, Jewel Rene Seibold and her husband, Dewayne, of Glendale, Arizona, and Regina Gilchrist and her husband, Jay, of Odessa; a brother, James Harrison, and his wife, Carolyn, of Kermit; and seven grandchildren. Public visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 1999, in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Channell officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Eastland Cemetery, Eastland, Texas, under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ CRANE -- Oscar McDougal, 83, of Odessa, formerly of Crane, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at the Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God Church in Odessa with Rev. Norman Owens and Rev. Floyd Jennings officiating. Burial will follow in the Crane County Cemetery with services under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane. Oscar was born on Mar. 5, 1916, in Runnels County, Texas. He married Jewel A. Brown on Feb. 11, 1937 in McCamey. He had been a resident of Crane for 60 years before moving to Odessa in 1988. He was a heavy equipment operator and road foreman for Crane County before his retirement. He was a member of Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God Church. Survivors include his wife, Jewel McDougal of Odessa; two daughters, Barbara Laird of Gardendale and Delois Hedges and husband, R.C., of Humble, Texas; brother Evert McDougal of Crane; three grandchildren, Sandra Jo Peng and husband, Gary, of Houston, Susan Light and husband, John, of San Antonio, and Tammy Blume and husband, Paul, of Houston; seven great-grandchildren, Kali and Annie Blume of Houston, Devin, Cody and Brett Light, all of San Antonio, and Aaron and Lindsey Peng of Houston. Visitation will be Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home, and on Monday from 10 a.m. until service time at the Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God Church. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Terry Niece Thomas, 38, of Odessa, passed away Friday, October 15, 1999, in an Abilene hospital. Ms. Thomas was born Mar. 21, 1961, in Odessa. She had been a long-time resident, attended Odessa High School and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving mother. She was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Niece. She is survived by three daughters, Ashley Thomas, Stephanie Thomas and Danielle Thomas, all of Odessa; her parents, Terry and Norma Niece of Odessa; a brother, Shawn Niece of Denver, Colorado; three sisters, Debbie Niece of Denver, Colorado, and Cherry J. York and Andrea Niece Morris, both of Midland. Public visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Kelly J. McComas ODESSA -- Kelly J. McComas, 38, of Odessa, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel, 601 N. Alleghaney, Odessa. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Woodruff officiating. Burial will follow in the Ector County Cemetery in Odessa. She was born in Jacksonville, Fla., on Jan. 3, 1961. She married Walter McComas in Boston, Mass., Dec. 5, 1982. She moved with her husband to Odessa in 1986. She was a homemaker and member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, Walter McCombs of Odessa; mother and stepfather Margaret and Phil Magliozzi of Odessa; brother Michael McAdoo of Boston; and sisters Cynthia King and Stephanie Champagne of Odessa and Margaret Power of Boston.
