November 03, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Billy E. Miller ODESSA -- Billy Edgar Miller was born Oct. 8, 1934, in Hazelhurst, Miss., to Tom E. and Lucille Simmons Miller. He passed away at his home Nov. 1, 1999. Graveside services are scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Tom Allen of Big Spring officiating. Services under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Miller came to Odessa around 1950. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1952 and had attended Odessa College. He married Jerrie Goule on March 18, 1954. They moved to Monahans in 1957 where he was a member of the Jaycees and then moved back to Odessa in 1978. Billy worked for Amerada-Hess out of their Midland office as a Lease Maintenance Operator, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed gardening, was a very good cook and enjoyed hunting. He was preceded in death by his wife on Oct. 3, 1999; a brother, Tommy Miller in 1984; and his mother in 1976. Survivors include his father, Tom E. Miller of Odessa; his daughters, Paula Brazeal and her husband, Con, of Odessa and Toni White and her husband, Robert, also of Odessa; four grandchildren, Amanda and Jared Roach and Niki and Trevor White. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Isavel M. Tavarez was born Feb. 24, 1935, in Loving, N.M., to Seferino and Vicenta Acosta Martinez. She passed away Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at her home. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. The family will be receiving visitors at their home. Family will be accepting floral arrangements at their home also. Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Isavel M. Tavarez grew up in Loving, N.M., and Carlsbad, N.M., then moved to Odessa in 1947. She married Elias Tavarez in 1952. She was a loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother. Isavel was always willing to help those in need. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, Elias Tavarez; two sons, Elias Tavarez Jr. and Steve Tavarez, both of Odessa; three daughters, Elida Willard, Elodia Gonzales and Leticia Tavarez, all of Odessa; her mother, Vicenta Acosta Martinez; four brothers, Greg Martinez of Los Angeles, Calif., Juan Martinez of Odessa, Placido Martinez of Carlsbad, N.M., and Max Martinez of El Paso; three sisters, Refugia Martinez, Angelica Martinez and Francisca Doporto, all of Carlsbad, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. _________________________________________________________________ Billy Dee Duesler ODESSA -- Billy Dee Duesler was born Jan. 11, 1941, in Clovis, N.M., to George and Ida Mary Duesler. He passed away Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. He was preceded in death by his mother and also by his brother, Lloyd. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Duesler was a narcotics investigator. He worked for the Andrews Sheriff's Department and was assigned to the Trans-Pecos Drug Task Force.
